Anyone use Spray on sunblock?

We used the Coppertone Sport spray-on lotion on our last trip to Disney and it worked very very well. No sunburns at all for the entire trip! And our whole family is fair-skinned.

It is very quick and easy to get the whole family set for a day in the sun. Every few hours or so we would reapply it to everyone.

I highly recommend it.

Yes! I love the Bullfrog spray for swimming and water activities. Bullfrog protects great, but the regular gel stuff is so gooey and gloppy that I hate applying.

Spray on sunblock is popular, but our dermatologist doesn't recommend it because a lot of the sunblock ends up in the air instead of on your skin. She says that a lotion is best, so that's what we use. Don't forget to reapply sunscreen often and to wear a hat.

The fact that "a lot of the sunblock ends up in the air" makes this a very expensive option if you are out in the sun a lot, but I use it at times when I don't want my hands greasy, or need to be able to apply to myself in hard to reach areas like the back of my neck and don't want to risk missing any areas. We still use both depending on where, when and what. The PP who mentioned using lotion for the first coat, and spray for follow-ups during the day has a pretty good idea.

We also use the Aveeno SPF 70- very light & has a nice fresh scent(not perfumey) which is great in the FL sun.....noticed today that it's the first sunscreen to be sold out in my discount drug store...

I love the spray. We used the spray last year for the first time and it was GREAT!! I buy the spray and a smaller tube of lotion for our faces. I did worry over the weekend we went boating and I worried about it coming off , but no one got a sunburn!! Because I fry!!!

My DD is also very allergic to it. I'd try it before you leave b/c she broke out so bad in hives that we ended up in the emergency twice. Once the first day we noticed it and then again about 2 days later. We had no idea what was going on but the doctor said it was just still in her skin and when we brought her in the first time, they had dosed her up with so much medicine to counter act it and then a few days later, it just had a delayed reaction once all the medicine was gone! So if you're going to try it, I'd try it before my trip!!

That's interesting. I had an allergic reaction to sunscreen last summer - but I had on a couple of different kinds so I didn't know which one. Maybe it was the spray.

I use it on my kids and it works great though.

I also love the spray sunscreen. My children much prefer it.

Overspray can be a problem. We try to make sure we are well away from other people when reapplying. Especially when its windy. No one wants to eat my sunscreen. Somethings weren't meant to be shared.
(I learned the hard way that overspray can carry a long way. It got on the hood of my car. It didn't wash off. . . (I didn't try to take care of it for a few days. . .)

I LOVED it until I realized the funky painful rash that I kept getting was from the spray on sunblock :confused3 :( I was using the Neutrogena spray on and loved how light it felt... then a couple of days later, the rash would break out... it would be very painful esp. in the shower or pool.... then a couple days after that, would crust over... and then the cycle would repeat. I also tried the Aveeno and Coppertone at this point, but same reaction. By fall and through the winter, I was fine... then last summer when I started using the sunblock in the spray form again-back came the rash. My then 4 yr old DD pointed out that she had the same rash as Mommy.... but my 7 yr old was unaffected and DH was fine too. I used to work for a dermatologist and still go to that practice regularly for skin check ups. They said it's most likely the alcohol in it causing the allergic reaction.... so we're now using the rub-on Banana Boat dri-block sunblock.... LOVE It because it dries right up like powder and is non-greasy, though I do miss the convenience and quickness of the spray! :rotfl:

Spray on is fine for us at the pool up here but on our Disney cruise (Eastern) last year, we used it for the 1st time and my boys got their first sunburn. This was their 4th cruise and never burned before. We always used Hawaiian Tropic Baby Faces 60. I really don't care if it's messy or inconvenient. Sure beats melanoma!!
For their faces I use the big stick type like a big Chap Stick.
I also don't like how the spray leaves a crusty film on my watch and rings.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! It would take me forever and a day to lotion all 3 kids up, the spray is so much faster and works just as well if not better. Living in Las Vegas, we use it a LOT. Plus it's so great not to have to get your hands all greasy everytime.

The kids think it's funny because it's actually a little chilly going on. But if you hit a great sale, stock up!!

Sorry, and I agree with some PP, we use face sunscreen, I do NOT spray it on their faces as my kids eyes get irritated with almost any sunscreen even near their eyes!!

Spray on sun block is wonderful; I use it on my kids all the time. However, I have a dermatologist friend who also loves it, but says you should start in the morning with a thick layer of lotion, dried before clothes put on and still waiting 30 minutes before going outside. The spray-on is then for the repeat applications. She says no matter what is on the bottle/can, you should reapply every 4 hours at the longest. I take it to heart. My youngest and I are fair. Skin cancer also runs in my family pretty heavily and my older two boys who are as olive skinned as can be (and never burn) get moles, freckles, and show other signs of sun damage. We are never without sun block and hats. I just use a facial stick on their faces—it’s all they’ll let me use!

Whatever you use, please make sure it protects you from UV A and UV B rays. A causes cancer and wrinkles and B causes the burn. The SPF factor on most if not all, bottles refers to the UV B rays. Anything over 50 is going overboard. Also water resistance is important. Please reapply, reapply, reapply. And, one more thing, each application of lotion should be 1 once, which is like a shot glass-full. FYI

We love the spray on sunblock and use it all the time. One nice thing is that you can apply it to yourself and make sure you cover all parts. We have used it for our face, but spray it into our hands first, but most of the time we use the sunblock stick for faces.
