Anyone use Kindle onboard instead of dragging books?

I have the Sony Reader and it's great on the ship. FYI for Mac users - sometime in Sept the Sonny Reader will become Mac compatible. Can't wait for the change over then I can get rid of my very old PC that I keep just because of the Sonny Reader.

The two newest models ship with Mac compatible software; the Touch and Pocket models.

For me it is up to Apple, if they bring out a 5 or 6" screen devise that will allow use as a reader I will go apple, but the Sony is really tempting. A kindle is already what I want, but being north of the 49 parallel, we are out of luck.

Love my Kindle! I have the leather Kindle cover from Amazon. Not the prettiest but very functional.

Did the plastic bag thing at the beach in July and it worked very well.

Also, just bought a travel bag for my Kindle from sfbags.com . It's a great size that fits the Kindle, with cover, charger, car charger and light...plus my small camera, charger with room left for my ipod, charger, etc. It's a great little bag with lots of protection.

i took my sony reader on our cruise in may. it was great, the only thing I had worried about - that i wouldn't worry so much about with a book was leaving it places. Like if I wanted to take a dip in the pool I would have to go back to the room and put the reader away first. I guess I could have risked it and put a towel over it or something but I was just too worried. Other than that it worked out perfect. my SO would fall asleep in a lounge chair and i would read for a while.

I never thought of that--I leave my book on the chair all the time when I go somewhere--maybe it would make me eat less--no ice cream and pizza trips

Now I just make sure my Sony Reader is loaded up (with purchased stuff plus I get to borrow 6 e-books at a time from my local library system) before I leave.

For Kindle users, just make sure you load your Kindle with books before you leave. The Whispernet won't work outside the U.S.

I use the Kindle Software for iPhone. Awesome. I love it. If you already have an iPhone or iTouch then you can DL the software for Kindle for free. No need to buy new hardware.

A positive part of the sony reader is that on the Overdrive Ebook system, you can take out ebooks from your local library and load them to the sony reader for free!

Beth, no the kindle does not work with the Epub ebooks from Overdrive via a local library.

I'm thinking of getting the Sony Reader so I can download the free books at our library...for those who have the reader, do you like it? What about the mini-reader?

The new pocket reader, is very new just a couple of weeks. But I have seen at least 1 rider every day on the subway here in toronto with a Sony Reader, they always seem very happy with theirs.

I LOVE my Kindle. I take it everywhere with me. In my purse, on vacations, planes, etc.
