Anyone use Intelligender??

I'm thinking of buying one for a friend of mine. I get that it is only 90% accurate and is more for fun than anything...but was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts on it. Positive or negative. the test is $35 at our local Walgreens...so the cost is one negative to me.

I just used it this morning! I guess we will see if it is correct when the sono techs hopefully tell me in a few more weeks. I only did it because my sister insisted that it works and we wanted to see. Personally I think it is drano that you put your pee in. There is an old wives tale that if you pee on drano and it turns a certain color it means either boy or girl.

ETA- I think if you go on their website they have a printable coupon.

I used it last year. It said I was going to have a little girl and I did this past June. I heard that it's more accurate for female than male. I also heard that peeign on a PH pool strip will give you the same result. Check it out. Good luck to you friend.

Thanks! Now I think I should buy her a can of drano and some pool pH strips...probably a lot cheaper! Thanks for the information though. I guess it will be fun for her to try and see if it is right. I'll check for that online coupon...thanks again!

My mom and her best friend used the Draino test when they were pregnant (My brother is much much younger than me). The test worked. It turns either blue or green (I'm a little fuzzy with the details, but an online search should work). It showed my mom would have a boy and her friend would have a girl. It was accurate for both of them. Beware if you do this though, no one warned my mom not to do this inside. When the pee mixes with the Draino it smokes a bit and than it smells terrible (think skunk with a lovely mix of rotten egg). So our house smelled for hours. So definately do this test outside!

Do I dare tell you that I found them at www.Hocks.com for $29.99 and if you use the coupon GENDER it knocks 20% off bringing it to $23.99 then there was like $2 something for shipping...so total for one was $26-ish. I am tempted with that price. The coupon is good till the end of October.

The Drano test worked in our family too! My sister-in-law and I were pregnant at the same time and did the test together. The results were clearly very different and in the end I had a boy and she had a girl! Although I second the advice on doing it outside. We didn't know about the smell, etc. either and my brother-in-law ended up running outside with the containers. He wasn't too happy with us!

Urban legends like the Drano test rely on anecdotal confirmation bias to thrive. If you want to play the baby gender game, there are apparently some serious home kit blood tests available for $150+, or you can do the Chinese calendar one which is just as accurate as the Drano one, free, and sans noxious fumes.

My cousin is due with a girl in December and she bought the intelligender and it very clearly said she was having a boy. She has a 5yo daughter and was sort of excited about getting a son, but the ultrasounds have told her otherwise!

So just an update. I did purchase the intelligender from Hocks and had it shipped to my friend. She took it on Monday and it said girl (she texted me a picture of it). Then on Wednesday she saw her OB and had an ultrasound (she's 16+ weeks). She asked the tech if there was anyway to see what sex the baby is and the tech said she is 80% sure it's a girl. My friend isn't getting too excited yet...but she will have her comprehensive ultrasound next month and that one should have a better view of the "parts".

I had a little girl this past February and used the intelligender when I was 10 and 12 weeks pregnant...both tests said I was having a boy but when we had the ultrasound, they said definitely girl...and she was definitely a girl!!

Yep. I did it last year around 10-12 weeks. Showed very clearly that we were having our first boy after two dds.
Little Caroline was born last November, and very much a girl. We love her dearly and are glad she isn't a stinky boy

We have tried for a boy our last 2 pregnancy and have begged my doc for anyway to tell if it was a boy or girl before the ultrasound and they all swear that there is nothing in your pee that indicates a boy or a girl. Mean doctors! lol Now we have 3 beautiful girls who I would not trade for any old boys. Though you may want to ask me that again when puberty hits.

IT's not accurate at all. www.in-gender.com is a great sight for all things gender related in pregnancy. Forums are awesome. There are some women on there that were able to change their results just from altering their diet (more acidic diet produced a different result).

we tested this product on my birth board when I was pregnant with my 7 month old. we found it was about 60% accurate. and some people took 2 tests and got 2 different answers! lol.
