Anyone Use Bath Fitters?

Hi All,

We have a multitude of things we'd like/need to do to our house this coming year and are starting to research some of our options. One of the things we need to do something about is our bathtub and surrounding tile and the Bathfitters thing seems like the perfect solution for us. Has anyone had this done? Did you like the result? Was it really as quick and painless as they make it seem? What was the cost, if I may ask?

TIA!!!

I've never used them nor do I know anybody that has. But, it concerns me when they show them covering up a tub with mold and mildew on it. Won't that bring about health issues in the future?

Bumping because I am interested in having this done also. It seems like the easiest way to go especially for an older house.

Anyone????

Hi there. We used them in our old house in 2002. They did have to come back for a 2nd day to finish the job, but the guy was fairly new so I wasn't surprised that it took him a little longer.

A couple of things to consider:

- the bottom of our tub didn't quite "glue down" tightly in a couple of spots so you could feel it when you stepped on it.
- they look absolutely beautiful, but having even one bath would leave a ring around the tub ... I tried wiping it as the water was going down the drain, come back 1/2 hour later and I'd see the ring. Our new house has all acrylic tubs/showers and I guess it's just the nature of acrylic - not specific to Bath Fitters
- you need to be careful of the cleaners you use on it ... we tried many on their list, and the only one that I've found does a great job is "Lysol Gel" - used to be called "Sani-Gel". I'm from Canada so it might be a different name where you live.
- cost to install the tub with a corner shelf unit and soap dish, walls, ceiling piece was around $2000 Cdn - this was 4 years ago.

We explored many options for our old bathroom, and this was the least painful as far as the efficiency in getting it done. When we sold our house, one of the things that everyone commented on was how beautiful our upstairs bath was :thumbsup2

I would certainly recommend them ... a friend was getting her quote done yesterday, so I'll post if it comes in much different than what we paid.

We had a BathFitter tub installed in 2004. The tub is ok and we have had no problems with it. The installation took about a day and 1/2. A lot of times they tell you they cannot install over top of the old tub so they have to rip out the old tub first.

HOWEVER, we feel incredibly ripped off. The cost for the tub was $4,000 exactly. Being 24 years old at the time we didn't realize what things cost. We just knew that anything would be better than the tub that we originally had. We feel that we were taken advantage of by the salesman and the company. Months later we went to Home Depot and saw that a bath tub itself costs anywhere from $600-$1,000. So basically we paid $3,000 for labor. It makes me sick just thinking about it. If there is anything I regret it is using BATHFITTER. At our age it's all live and learn with respect to being a home owner.

Please look into other options, like buying the tub and having someone install it or just get some estimates. :furious:

My concern as well.

Plus, I would think that there would be significant problems if there was even the tiniest amount of water or residue in the original tub when the new thing is placed over it. Seems like that could have the potential to cause major problems in time.
