Anyone Up For a Little MAYcation?!! A May 2012 WDW PTR with a side of.....

Good giref! That airfare is crazy! My feelings are hurt for you on that one. Have you tried the Southwest DING! download for your computer? They send out daily specials that are way cheaper than even their "wanna getaway fares". I used it for our '09 trip and we flew for about $100 r/t pp. And I bought the tickets about a month before our trip. I have noticed that they have really cut back on the discounts to MCO though so it may not be of any help to you. I'm really sorry you had to pay that much and lose two days. I'm sure you can blame it on gas prices! :headache: It's almost $4 here now. I'm going to have to get a Flintstone mobile if it gets any higher!

Yay for Mickey mail though!

And a BIG yay for the Beach Club! :woohoo: My dream resort! :worship: I would LOVE being able to use SAB and being that close to Epcot! :cloud9:

I know. It is ridiculous. I do have the SW Ding on my computer. Too bad I haven't gotten one between PGH and Orlando in years. :sad2: Guess those days are over. It makes me mad!!

But yes, we are still lucky to be going and staying at the BC. I just hope the BC is as great as everyone says it is. :wizard: The Poly sure was!!

The Beach Club is gorgeous! No matter the issues, I bet it will still be beautiful. :goodvibes

Spendy flights stink! We live in the boondocks of MN so our flights are always outrageous. For Morghan and I to fly in October, it's still about $1000 for just two of us. Needless to say, I am still waiting to purchase as well! :sad2:

I'm joining in :) You have a beautiful family! I love that you don't stay at the same resort twice... makes for a different experience every time! We'll be arriving on May 4th as well and staying till the 12th. Can't wait! My PTR is in my siggy too.

Hi there:cutie: I must jump on this thread as me DH are coming down on 5/9 for a NO KIDS ALLOWED long weekend for his B-day. Our family week-long trip isnt until August so I feel very lucky that I get to visit the World 2x this year;)

Shelly- You're family is adorable and Im so excited to be part of this PTR by stalking, er, I mean following it:goodvibes I have stayed at the BC twice and loved it both times-especially the drink service at your pool chair:worship:

Happy planning everyone!

Oh that stinks for just the 2 of you. :sad2: It is out of control, like the price of most things these days!!! :headache:

Welcome!:goodvibes

Thank you. We figure that since we vacation at the same place every year (WDW) we can at least change things up a bit by trying a new resort almost every time!

Congrats on your upcoming trip!! :cool1:

Welcome aboard!

Thank you. :goodvibes So glad you came out of lurking and posted!! :) We are really looking forward to the BC!

Have a great time on your 'no kids' trip in May!

joining in :) We too are going to be on our first trip to WDW with a TEEN!! lol. Actually I'm expecting it to be very good b/c the only thing that i've noticed is difficult with my teen is making her do homework, chores, flyer route, or pretty much anything that requires work. :rotfl2: since we'll be living it up I'm expecting a very nice time :) Well, ok, maybe the odd fit or two but mostly good stuff.

Our trip is apr 26 - May 19 so perhaps we'll run into you :) Can't wait to see your plans.

Feel free to pop over to my prt too - I have mine all laid out and working on each park day now. It's taking quite some time since it's so long.

Looking forward to seeing more :)

I wonder what happened to our DINGs? :confused3  Sorry that just sounds funny. But seriously, I used to get them all the time too from RDU to MCO, but they are pretty rare now. When I do get them, they are not the deal they used to be. :sad2: Don't the airlines know they are eating into our Disney budgets! :headache:

I'll still be keeping my fingers crossed for you that something better comes available. It looks like we will be driving too if the prices stay that high. Although after that nutty JetBlue pilot yesterday, I'm feeling pretty good about driving.

It surely is crazy what airfare is costing now. I have never arrived late in the day and not sure if I could book a late flight. Coming back we always seem to do a morning flight so we can have time to go pick up the dog at the kennel and now DH does not like to drive in the dark and I no longer drive but I am thinking next trip of taking a late flight and just staying at the airport hotel until the next morning. Usually when flights first come out the later ones cost about the same but then group much higher as time goes on.

We have stayed in rhe same place 2 years in a row when we like the resort and We both want to return to BWI next trip.

There must be a convention at YC for your dates if there was no availability there, when I booked BC that time it was the same situation with no rooms at YC.

I hope you get a full balcony. I was so worried about that at the BWI after what happened to you, first thing I asked the CM was if they had been able to meet my requests....I almost fainted when she said you have been upgraded to a water view King room.

Wow that's a long vacation!! :cool1: I bet your DD will be at her best having no chores for that long! What is with always having to be on them at this age about everything??? :faint:

I bet we'll cross paths at some point! :)

IDK what happened to our Dings! :lmao: Crazy Dings anyway....:rotfl:

I wish we could drive, but I just think that the thought of the drive home would kill the whole vacation. :scared1: But yes, that JB story was a little crazy!!

It sure is crazy!! And it makes me mad. We are going to hate that late flight down. I don't mind the early flight home as much since we wouldn't do much on the last day anyway.

Almost every time I look at the YC there are no standard rooms left. Must be lots of conventions there.

I'm so glad you guys got an upgrade!! :goodvibes I just hope for a full balcony. :wizard:

Airfare is ridiculous now-a-days! If we flew, we'd have to drive to a bigger airport which is about 2 hours away, pay to park, pay for airfare and then drive back home. And, it's still way to high to fly.

I hate that your travel days are cutting into your vacation days. I wonder if maybe a later flight home will open up later?

It's just crazy!! :sad2: And then to top off being ripped off we got the worst flight time going down. It stinks! :headache:

I'm hoping something opens up earlier for the flight down, but I doubt it since the only thing left as of now is first class and about $400 one way per person. :faint: But even if something did open up I'm pretty sure AT charges $75 pp to change. So it probably is what it is.

Update:

I just bought WDW park tickets!! :cool1: Since we have a room only ressie at the BC I bought my park tix from Undercover Tourist. I've never used them before, but have heard that they are trustworthy. I saved about $95 buying through them instead of WDW. And since I only needed 7 day tix instead of 8 days, I saved about $100 there.

It says 10 business days to ship, so that should be plenty of time to get here before we leave. Hopefully!! :wizard:

Also got out the suitcases today and went through all our travel toiletries & such and got them all ready!! :goodvibes

I'm excited too!! :cool1: I'm sure the pool thing isn't too bad. It's just not ideal for our first time there.

Do you recommend anything CS at the BC?

Honestly, we did not do CS at the BC too much. For all of our dinners, we had ADR's. For lunches, we generally were in the parks. However, one day we were by the pool at lunchtime and got burgers at Hurricane Hannah's. They were certainly not the best burgers, but they definitely were good and they held us over until dinner! For breakfast, we went to Captain's Grille at the YC one morning (delicious!), got room service once, and then got items from the BC marketplace the other days. They had some good options- bagels, muffins, etc., along with ham and cheese croissants and french toast sticks. We got a bit of everything over the few days that we ate there, and everything was good! DD10 especially liked the croissants.
Hope that helps!:goodvibes

Thanks! :) We may find ourselves at the BC a few times when it's time to eat. I didn't make a ton of ADR's - only 5 I think, plus we will eat at BRG at least once. I think we will hit up the BC Marketplace a time or two for breakfast and/or lunch. Not sure about Hurricane Hanna's. I need to look at their menu again I guess.

Shelly--- the tickets from UT will be in your mailbox I bet by next Thursday. They are usually super fast.

And don't forget to get concierge in the BC lobby to add them onto your KTTW ticket. They'll then issue you new KTTW cards and destroy the old ones. When you do--- make sure that they also scan your CC onto the new ones so you can have room charging privileges. Other than that-- Easy Peasy!:thumbsup2

And YAY for saving some $$!:cool1:

Shelly~ I've gotten my tix from maple Leaf tickets before and my sister has used UT. This year my DH checked AAA and they were cheaper than both:thumbsup2 with no shipping charges- I just picked them up yesterday.
So next year if you're AAA member check them too:thumbsup2
They also gave me a AAA Diamond parking pass :banana::banana:
So excited about that!!!!!

Hey Mari! :wave2:

Only a year to go!! I know you have been waiting so long. Will you be all done with school then?

Crossing my fingers that i will be done next year. It will be sort of a graduation present to myself. I can't wait to read all about your trip.... i live vicariously through your trips.....

I've never bought tickets from anyone but Disney so I'll be curious to see what you think. If I ever book a room only discount, that would be nice to save a little extra cash. We've always gotten free dining, so that wasn't an option for us. I'm crossing my fingers for free dining again this fall but if they only offer a room discount, then that might be a really good excuse to stay at a deluxe, don't you think? :rolleyes1

By the way, have you done anymore reasearch into what you want to do for your 'big' trip next year? I'm really curious to know if you've found a cheaper way to get to Aulani.
