I'm just wondering if 1) you thought it was a good value and 2) did you get sick of eating counter service food all of the time?

I'm trying to decide which plan to purchase. I'm a little worried about being stuck just eating hamburgers all of the time. But I like the quick service plan because I don't have to make adrs.

It actually just started today, so I am sure that we'll have some reports trickling in soon. Hopefully within the next week or so! :thumbsup2

I just decided to take the kids on a surprise trip in May to use up our flight credits and I will be using the Quick Service Dining plan as this needs to be a budget trip.
I exhaustively researched dining options for our trip in September. So I know if I plan it correctly that we won't need to eat burgers the whole time.(I would hate that).
I am looking forward to reading everyones reviews on the new plan too.:goodvibes

We always do a lot of quick serve at WDW and I never eat a burger. We eat fish and chips, quiche, lamb schwarma, tacos, egg rolls, japanese curry, bratwurst and saurkraut, bbq ribs, bbq chicken, pizza, tuna salad sandwich, broccoli and humus sandwich, cuban sandwich, pulled pork, various types of salads, chicken wrap, rotisserie chicken. grilled salmon, various flatbread pizzas, and pastas. There's much more, but those are our faves.

Great thing about Disney--lots of yummy quick food that has nothing to do with hamburgers!! Unless that's what you want. :)

Oh, I didn't realize that it started yesterday. I assumed that it started on the 1st of January. I can't wait to hear feedback. Where do you all eat for quick service. The one place I love is Cosmic Rays! What about at DS. What quick service offers things other than burgers?
Thanks!:)

One that comes to mind that we loved on our last trip was Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. Lots of different options and many healthy choices. The food was great!
I am sure we will go there a few times on our next trip.
Also I have heard great things about Tangerine Cafe at Epcot (in Morroco) though I have never tried it.

I would also like to know if they are pooling the credits. This will make it easier for us than if they are seperating them out. :)

We have always done the dining plan but this time around trying the quick service plan. I hope it makes our vacation more relaxed and easier to "wing" it. You loose so much flexibility with so many sit down ressies but I will miss the good food!

We take 2 trips a year.. we have decided once a year to do the quick service and once a year to do sit downs.

Please report back. :)

Wow!!! that's a great selection!

I may look into this meal plan for our trip.

We have the same complaint. We waste a lot more time with a table service meal. I don't mind doing a few table service meals throughout our visit, but not one every day. Plus, I like the flexibility of doing a quick service meal. We can be more spontaneous. We don't have to be forced to stick to our ADR times with a quick service meal. This is why the quick service plan is so appealing to us.

We are going to try it this trip as well, as long as it is still around for June 2010. I can't wait for some reviews. I have the same reasoning for using it as others on this thread. ADRs sometimes get to be more of a hassle than they're worth. We have eaten many many sit down meals in Disney and I know there is plenty of variety in counter service options.

I second Sunshine Seasons as being one of my favorite counter services.

I am interested also in the convenience and how the credits appear on the card this year.

I think we've pretty much decided to try the CS DDP for our 4/3 deal trip. Having done the regular DDP 3 times now, I'm not worried about variety. But we've always managed to get the regular DDP for free, so I do worry about getting a good value out of the CS DDP. Those of you who have tried it, what do you think? Can you get your money's worth out of it?

I am another veteran of the regular DDP who has decided to try the DQSDP. For me, the decision was more about flexibility than value. After last September's big GG, I am in the mood for a trip in which we fly by the seat of our pants. I have planned & researched every last detail of every single trip to WDW for several years now, and for once I'd like a Disney vacation where I can wake up when I feel like it and eat wherever and whenever I'd like -- that will happen on this trip.

FYI: There are 3 of us (all adults now) in my party. The plan is probably not going to be a savings for us even if we decide to eat every meal at the Pepper Market (yes, we're staying at CSR). Also, I know there is WAY MORE to CS food than just burgers and fries in the parks -- so as well as not being concerned with value, I am not worried about variety either.

I just added it on to our trip i looked at the menus on DIS and figured everyones rough idea that they would get plus the snacks and the cost of the mug and i am saving over 400 dollars by going with the plan... And yor ight there is a lot more selection than just burgers and chicken nuggets You cant beat this DP meal plan... I still miss the table service plan but I cant afford the tips on this trip.....Plus i like the fact that i dont have to carry alot of cash on me in the parks just my KTTW card and my credit card

You don't need a dining plan to avoid carrying cash. If you set up charging privileges on your KTTW, you wouldn't need to carry cash either. Just charge to your room. All restaurants, shops, and even the vast majority of carts take your KTTW for charging privileges.

Good point about the flexibility--I hadn't even thought about it from that angle because we weren't considering purchasing the regular DDP. Since this is more of a "last minute" trip (for us), I wouldn't even want to try to get ADR's.

I was just looking at the value compared to OOP and, while it's possible we could save money by going OOP, I doubt that we would. Even a couple of TS meals would easily put us over the $100/day cost of the QSDDP. And if we did manage to somehow come in under budget, it would only be because I said "no" to my kids (and dh) a lot. No to mickey ice cream bars, no to appetizers, no to desserts. Hey--it's vacation, I don't want to have to be the "snack nazi" the whole trip!

We are going to try it in June for 1 night. We 6 adults, and a 2 yo and a 9 month old. We are staying in 2 studios for 1 night at SSR before checking into a GV. Our plan is to eat dinner the first night (arriving around 3pm) at either Wolfgang Puck Express (love the pasta) or Artist Palette at SSR (love the flatbreads and chicken caesar salad.) For breakfast DH, DS, and DSIL will do breakfast OOP at Artist Palette. Me, DD and DDIL plan on using snack credits for yogurt, fruit, muffins etc. The mugs will come in handy for coffees and apple juice. We are then tentitively planning on doing Epcot and Sunshine Season's FC for lunch. DH loves the Asian CS there. We figure we will get our money's worth with a popcorn and Mickey bar thrown in. ??? for desert at SS are you allowed to pick something from the bakery stand? Also I know that the mugs will only be good for the first 2 days of the trip but we use them at home also.

Dsny Dreams - we selected the DQSDP for the same reasons you did. For the past vacations I have been the planner from A to Z. We are planning the vacationin June to be a "fly by the seat of our pants" and not have my Excel spreadsheets reminding us of where we have to be and by what time etc. I am looking forward to this!

As for our favorite counter service - we love Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT, Columbia Harbour House in MK, and Flame Tree BBQ in AK. There are lots of options besides burgers and chicken fingers!
