My whole family golfs. I mean, EVERYONE. I am the only non-golfer in any of my relations. And my SO golfs. My dad has been trying to get me on a golf course for years, and I have resisted, saying it's just really not my thing.

You have no idea how many times I heard "Oh, but you'll love it once you get out there! You'll get the bug! You'll wonder why you never tried it before!"

So this past vaca, I agreed to try it. Dad booked a round at LBV course. I suited up, rented clubs, and gamely trotted out onto the course.

And I HATED it. The only "bug" I caught were the ones that were biting me. Along with those bugs I caught a sunburn and a nasty headache. By the 9th hole, I packed it in and let them finish.

I have disappointed everyone. I am a *GASP* non-golfer! And the thing that really bugs me is that golf was exactly what I thought it would be. I had no misconceptions at all about it or my lack of interest. If you listen to everyone I know, however, I am the sole person in the history of the world to try golf and still hate it.

Go me, an enigma... :p

Count me in!! My entire family golfs. Heck, my parents own their own golf cart! I was forced to take lessons as a kid and found it boring!

I decided early on that on a hot summer afternoon, the only sane place to be was by the pool!! I wound up being a lifeguard and swimming instructor! :p At least I wasn't out on the course sweating!

Your not alone my sister doesn't like to golf either. But I love it got A's in gym when we had golf. :D (Only time I did really good in gym).

I like it but I can see where some wouldn;t

One summer my sister had a job as manager of an ice cream place. She was doing such a god job and got the promotion so the owner could try golf.

It didn't work out for him. He said he would go crazy trying to hit that ball into a cuup

Golf isn't for me either. DH plays a little but I just can't get into it. It's not even that I'm not good at it because the few times I have played I wasn't too bad. There are so many other things I'd rather do though.

DH likes it, so years ago I tried it. I realized that it would take a very long time for me to become even a bad golfer, and I didn't like it enough to put that much effort into just beind bad at something.

I hated #18 at LBV yesterday!! Hit it dead right into the pines. Does that count??? The other 35 holes I loved!!!! :p

Golf isn't for everyone....it just SEEMS that way.....

I always have a dickens of a time on #18! It is SO hard to get the ball up the ramp and through the clown's nose!

Took up the game about 6-7 years ago. Made a promise to myself that if I EVER shot a score worse than I did the first time I played, I would quit. Played for nearly two years and enjoyed it quite a bit. Bought the gear, talked the talk, etc. I felt like I was OK and getting better. One day, I had a rough round out there and shot 1 stroke worse than that first time I played. I walked off the course and have not touched a golf club since, and I have no desire to ever do it again.

YAWN! Boring! I hate golf. I enjoy it a little more if it's mini golf with all the cute stuff! But I do enjoy a driving range!!! I like to whack those balls out there and get rid of some frustration. :teeth:

I hate golf. When I was in NC someone tried to give me golf lessons at the driving range. I never went back.

I like a lot of sports, but not that one.:D

I've never tried to play golf but my husband's grandparents tried to teach him when he was a teen and he absolutely hated it. He said that they made him do all of these weird contortions with his body to get in the proper position to hit the little white ball... feet apart, knees bent, elbows doing something, forearms doing something, head doing something etc etc and then after he was in the most uncomfortable position in the world he was told to relax. RELAX while tied up like a pretzel? He didn't get it :)

Anyone try golf and NOT like it?

Yup.

Now keep in mind my best friend in the world growing up (and still) owns a golf course -- we spent a good portion of every summer and most weekends there.

My ex is a greenskeeper and avid golfer.

Most of my friends golf.

But I can't stand it.

John likes gold and I think its okay but we both have problems.....major ones...LOL!

John hits the ball in every direction but the one its supposed to go in. He also hits it to darned hard. He was a baseball player and every sport he plays goes straight back to baseball. Golf is easier to him than tennis though. He can NEVER keep the ball inside the court on tennis.

Now me, when I hit the ball it moves about 3 feet. Which is okay since I'm dieting because I need to walk 18 holes!!!!! I seriously never hit the stupid thing far enough to even bother getting back in the golf cart.

Ugh. Playing golf is even worse than watching paint dry.:p

I am another non-golfer. I hate the game. Everyone told me that to be a good Business Major in college that I better learn to play golf because that is where all the business deals are done. Golf was also pushed on me since I have been very little. My grandparents would always try to get everyone involved. To this day they are still the only ones who are into golf, the rest of the family says forget it!!! Instead I picked up the skiing gene, much more exciting!!!

My husband insisted I would love it...went out and bought me a new set of clubs before I had ever even been to a driving range..well the clubs were used..ONCE..at the driving range..and I hated it...sold them 2 weeks later..just not my sport I guess!

I've tried it once and hated it. Then a group of friends were going and said I had to try it a second time, I would like it. I tried it a second time, I hated it. It's just not for me. I don't like miniature golf either! :p
