On another board, I inquired about Dream Dinners, one of those meal assembly places. Someone replied they used to do those, until they discovered Costco had the same thing, already assembled, better tasting and for less money. Does anyone here know what that poster is talking about?

These aren't just frozen TV dinners, they're decent ingredients, spices and all, added to ziploc baggies and intended to be frozen until ready to thaw/cook.

TIA!

I'm sure they are talking about the prepared foods at Costco. Like the triangle spinach pasta thing.
I would think they were being facetious. Like all dream dinners is is a glorified frozen meal place.

We used to go to a place that used FRESH meats and I loved it! Unfortunately she went out of business.

Maybe. My brother used to sell foods for Sysco, who supplied Dream Dinners with their ingredients. According to my brother, Dream Dinners used much of the same ingredients as the restaurants he sold to. I liked DD and used to go regularly but it appears they changed their menu a lot. I can't find one thing that sounds good to me for the next two months of menus when I used to find multiple things every month I was dying to try. I haven't been there in over 1 year and was wondering what happened. That's when someone mentioned Costco.

Go to the back of the store, near their meats section.. where they have meat and their rotisserie chickens. In my store, it's between the cheeses and the meat. There is a big section of refrigerated prepared foods.

are you talking about things like the pinwheel steaks? and the salmon with stuffing kind of things? or am I missing something else.

Yes. They are good. I was surprised how good it was. I tried it out as a sample and ended up getting the meal. It was chicken picatta. I just got some pasta and put the chicken over pasta. It was so good that I had it for lunch at work the next 2 days....and i usually don't do that w/ food. I love costco..

They are all tasty and naturally easy to serve. Unfortunately the prepared items have too much sodium for me, so it's only an occasional item we purchase. But the whole family does really enjoy them.

Our Costco has a chicken penne, lasagna, sheppards pie, beef and brocolli quiche, meatpie...all you do is heat and serve. they are all fatastic. Costs more than making it yourself but is cheaper than going out. Add a salad to any of these and they are good to go.

We had the stuffed salmon tonight. It is one of my favorite meals. I bought several packages of it a few trips ago and froze them. It thawed and reheated really well.

That's great to know - thanks for the feedback. I have often wondered how they do if they are frozen.

I used to buy the greek chicken and pasta all the time until Costco quite making it. My family also loves the chicken pot pie.
