Anyone travelling in March?

Hi all,
We are going the weelk of March 18th. Any ideas what to pack for clothing? I have never been to Florida in March. Can we wear shorts-t-shirts or is long pants more appropriate? What about sandals? Does it rain a lot in March?
I would love to hear your thoughts...

For the past 2 years, we have gone the first full week of March (and will be going again this coming March). We have always worn shorts, although we do take at least one pair of long pants for the cool nights. The average day-time temp is around 78 and nights around 56. However, during the week you are going, it can get as warm as 85 on a sunny day and as cool as 48 at night. Shorts should be fine, but I would still take at least one pair of long pants for the night time.

As for rain, it is kind of hit and miss. Two years ago, we were there 5 days and didn't rain once. Last year, it rained one day and we just bought a poncho. It does not rain as much in Florida during March as it would over the summer time. A weather system has to move in for rain during this time of years. In the summer time, it could rain briefly every day because of the heat and humidity.

I totally agree. We typically go the 2nd full week of March and have always had great weather. We pack mostly shorts also with a couple of pairs of jeans and a light jacket for the evenings. We were there 10 days in '02 and 12 days in '04 and only 1 day did it rain. '04 proved to be quite warm with us swimming everyday.

I also agree. We went the 1st week of march in 2005 and experienced a range of weather. It was basically in the mid 70's during the day, and chillier in the early am and in the evening. I usually wore capri pants and a t shirt, and always had a sweatshirt around my waist just in case. If we went back to the room in the afternoon, I put jeans on for the evening. It rained only once-- practically the whole day! It was the coldest that day-- only about 55. But we put our ponchos on and still had a great time! I think March is one of the best times to go. There were very little crowds also. We're going in May this year, new for me. We'll see how it goes. Have fun!
