Anyone traveling Delta

we were cancelled out of Tampa to go back to Richmond and missed a full day at school/work on the following Monday....we were given a hotel room and the next day we had to connect via Atlanta and missed our connecting flight because our Tampa-Atlanta flight was an hour delayed. I think thats the last time we will be flying Delta :teeth:

Out of curiosity, why did you need a flight without a first class section?

I bought them early to make sur that I would have a seat towards the front of the plane. ... It is a non-stop flight and if they try to put me on anything other they will have a fight on their hands.
There are several advantages to buying tickets early, but ensuring seating assignments is not one of them.
It is important to remember that flights times, aircraft and itineraries are not promised. All you're promised is that you'll be provided transportation between two cities on a specific day. Airfares are much too low to consider offering any other assurances.

Mine changed again. Delta had me on a time that was nonexisting in our airport. Inaddition, they had me at a 5 hour lay over on another plane that wasn't registering in Boston. I would have been 2 hours later in arriving, if indeed they could have found that phantom plane in Boston!

Delta was kind and gave me their best flight out of Fredericton with just 6 hours going and 4 hours coming home!

At least they will work with you and help make it right. They explained it is all part of restructoring. Almost everything is being changed. I had inflight entertainment in the first plane I booked, but not in this one. Then again. I will be arriving 3 hours earlier then the orginial flight.....

Just call, they try to make it right!

I called last night to confirm our Boston to Orlando flights for this August. The times had changed slightly - still okay. However DHs return flight had him about 10 rows behind us. (He's flying down a week later so we're not all linked). I had him changed to our row but couldnt get adjoining seat - maybe someone will switch once we get onboard.

I doubt you'll have much problem finding someone in a middle seat to agree to switch with you for your aisle or window seat.

Me and my big, fat mouth.....Delta changed me!!! Now I have to call, yet again, and get my seats all back the way we wanted.

rigs32 - i didn't start out looking for first class - it was actually fewer skymiles to book skysaver first class than skychoice in coach. my preference of course would have been skysaver seats in coach.

I booked my trip with Orbitz, and got a really good deal, Problem is i went to check on the Delta site, after reading these posts and i can't find my flight anywhere!!! :confused3

well, the song flights had no first class section. they were luxury travel all the way. Each seat had it's own TV and entertainment. You could play video games in your seat and watch whatever movie you wanted VS the normal that you can watch the movie if you can see it and you can listen if you get headphones. I wanted my boys entertained on the way donw and video games would have done that.

Omg, I am flipping out right now.I have been checking our flights every week since WDW travel booked them in March, now this morning they switched one of the segments of our flight, which only gives me a 20 minute connection in CVG and now the other 3 segments arent even showing for seat maps, it says to check back later or call call them.
We are flying from SBN to CVG then CVG to MCO and the same in reverse. So far only the outbound days CVG flight is showing, should I wait or call Delta??
I am scared because I wil be traveling with a 4 month old infant, a 2yo and my DH ( we all have our own seats)and I dont want us scattered all over the plane. I am really scared they might be cancelling our flights out of SBN and then I dont know what we are going to do.I know its 5 months away, but omg.............

AHHH there are so many good and bad things about the DIS! I had no idea that Delta changed their flights like that! I was so proud of myself for getting such a great rate out of DSM. I spent hours picking the times that we were going to arrive and return. Basically planning every minute of our trip DF and I sat together around the computer and meticulously picked our seats. Just to find out that our Feb flights could be changed! HE WILL FREAK! He doesn't like change. I don't know where I put our fligh ressie either! This is nuts! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Well, called Delta this morning. Got a rep that was incredibly hard to understand, who then handed me off to yet another impossible to understand rep. Incredible. Anyway...they not only changed my flight times, we did get a change in equipment. I knew it was coming, just didn't know when. My issue is that we are flying with another mom and her dd. Ours girls want to sit in consecutive rows. So, when I change my seats, I have to change theirs also since they are traveling at the moment.
So....I end up on one of those planes with rows of 3 and then a row of 2. The rep puts us in seats D and E, rows 14 and 15. That's terrific...I'm good with that. Seats on returning flight are fine also. The times did change but I can live with the hour later going to Orlando and the hour later leaving Orlando. But, now, 3 hrs later, I go to my itinerary to make sure the changes are showing up and what do I find? My D and E seats have changed from rows 14 and 15 to rows 35 and 36!!! I really don't care where I am I guess, but have to wonder why they changed us...the whole section was open when I talked to them today...now, all the D seats from row 10 to the wing are taken, but not the E's. And most of the A,B and C seats are gone now. wonder if a large party took them.
I'm just hoping that they don't continue changing...it's a huge pain. However, I will keep checking every Sunday morning, since that's when the changes seem to happen the most.

The web site always says that try later thing, call now and straighten it out. Don't you have the ressie saved in your email???

I had a problem with Delta. Before I left on our trip to New Orleans I printed everything out. Flight times, numbers seat assignements. Everything was in place. When we were returning home, they couldn't find our reservation. They had to give us standby because they had cancelled another flight and put those passengers on our flight but bumped us out of our seats. It was pretty nerve-wracking.

Gone are the Song planes with in seat entertainment. My little boy just loved that plane and that is why I booked it!

The plane now in a McDonnell- 88. A smaller plane. I like big! We always sat up front. Geez, they had me on row 13 both ways....I'm half afraid of flying and am superstitious too! I quickly moved us to row 14. Not too far from the doors.

Hope I don't change again.

I would hardly consider Song to be a luxury airline. They had great service and newer planes, but having seat back entertainment is hardly a luxury. I suggest trying JetBlue, another discount carrier if you want to be guaranteed your own tv (although half the time when I have flown JetBlue, the entertainment system hasn't worked - got a $5.00 credit each time).

As far as Delta changing flights, it happens with all airlines, espeically when you book a flight many months in advance.

This can't be happening!!!!!

I just read this thread about 15 minutes ago. I booked my flights on Friday afternoon for November. They could not possibly have changed already (I thought to myself). But, I'll check the site out of curiousity.

YES, everything is changed......lost all seats, both of our layovers we will be landing at the same time and later than we are suppose to be getting on the next flight.

What did I do by booking Delta??????

I'm calling right now but if I am understanding you guys, there will probably be more changes coming. :furious:

Guys, it isn't just Delta, and it isn't just more than 5 months in advance that they make changes. I have flights booked on Continental for our vacation in one week :cool1: and it was changed 2X.

The first time, I didn't even know about. The second time I found out just by chance we were changed (went to add another person to our party). We were on totally different flight #'s going down and coming back. And the original flight #'s were still in their system. Go figure. Going down, the flight got us there more than four hours later than the original, and coming back got us home two hours sooner.

Anyway, I called reservations and was really nice explaining that all I wanted was to be put back on the original flight #'s that I had purchased (since they were still existing flights). Got a nice woman who wanted to help me out, but said that the flight class or price point I had purchased was no longer available on those flights. :furious: So, I was persistent, and she felt bad once she understood that not only had we been removed from our departing flight, but had been removed from our return flight as well. Finally she said she would get her supervisor. Got put back on the original flight for departure, which will get us there an hour earlier :cheer2: (but means we've got to get up an hour earlier - blech). Did not change our return flights back to the original flight # because that had us getting to our home airport at midnight, so I lived with departing two hours earlier.

Anyway, apparently the reason our flights were so fouled up is because we were changed in the system once before, but weren't notified. So, when those flights were changed, they didn't keep our original itinerary in mind when they re-booked us the second time involuntarily. I only found this out when I had to call back the next morning because although our flights were fixed in their system, the new e-ticket that they e-mailed still reflected the old flights that we didn't want. The next reservations agent fixed that error, and then said, oh I see what happened, you were switched around once before, as well.

So, the whole point of the story is that this can happen on any airline, not just Delta, and can happen closer to departure, as I went through this not even a month ago, and we're leaving on vacation a week from now.

I can't even begin to tell you the problems we have had with Delta. Flights canceled never informed. Paid for a change in flights so we could take a direct flight.....direct flgith canceled and no $ given back even though it was their idea to take the direct flight....I just checked our flights.....gone, changed. We are now leaving at 5:00 instead of 7:25..ummm there is no way we can make that flight we work...... Can you go the next day. I ask can we go on the early flight out... nope, all full as it is Christmas Eve and there are 7 of us!!! So our hotel, rental car etc will be all messed up.I understand flight changes but can you please notify us so we can help make the changes. I checked they have our email and phone. I was told by the lady on the phone I should have been called. I asked if they added a later flight would we be allowed to go on it. Yes, but we will have to pay the $350 change ticket fee...ummm you changed us from late to early??!! I already paid $350 for a flight change and then you wiped it out. They also didnt confirm us on the new flights so we don't all have seats together anymore. The lady on the phone was able to make sure my 3 year old is with me and my special needs son is with my husband. My 15 year old and my MIL and SIL are spread out on some of the flights and next to each other on others. Imagine how wonderful it would be if the airlines had to pay us if they changed the flights!! That would be GREAT!!!!
Oh well, I HATE DELTA but love the people who work there. They have been very very nice and helpful on the phone but the company.......I will never, ever use them again I dont care how much cheaper the flights are.
If you have DELTA tickets my advice would be to check them once a week to make sure no changes have been put into place.
