anyone travel with insulin with new ziplock bag regs?

I'm wondering if it is easier to place the vial of insulin in its box with the prescription label in the ziplock bag with other toiletries or to keep it with the other diabetic supplies? Will TSA want the insulin removed from the bag & from its box to check or can the whole thing just go thru?The carry case for the diabetic supplies is designed to hold only the vials, so we wd have to fold up the box or do something with it if we put the insulin in the carry case. If the insulin is not in the diabetic supply case wd that also mean that the case cd just stay in the carryon & go thru the xray machine, or do we still need to declare everything? Sorry, have never traveled with insulin before & want to avoid problems with TSA at security. We have spare prescriptions & letter from doctor. The doctor told us to put the 2nd monitor & extra syringes in the checked luggage. Is that a good idea or shd everything go in carryon? Thanks

I'd love to hear the answer to this. My dh & I will be traveling in December and he's got to take his insulin too. When we went in May it was no problem, but now with all the different rules - we're totally confused.

Persons with Diabetes
Notify the Security Officer that you have diabetes and are carrying your supplies with you. The following diabetes-related supplies and equipment are allowed through the checkpoint once inspected to ensure prohibited items are not concealed.


Insulin and insulin loaded dispensing products (vials or box of individual vials, jet injectors, infusers, preloaded syringes, and insulin inhalers
Unlimited number of unused syringes when accompanied by insulin or other injectable medication
Lancets, blood glucose meters, blood glucose meter test strips, alcohol swabs, meter-testing solutions
Insulin pump and insulin pump supplies (cleaning agents, batteries, plastic tubing, infusion kit, catheter, and needle)
Glucagon emergency kit
Urine ketone test strips
Unlimited number of used syringes when transported in Sharps disposal container or other similar hard-surface container
Sharps disposal containers or similar hard-surface disposal container for storing used syringes and test strips
Insulin in any form or dispenser must be clearly identified.

If you are concerned or uncomfortable about going through the walk-through metal detector with your insulin pump, notify the TSO that you are wearing an insulin pump and would like a full-body pat-down and a visual inspection of your pump instead.

Advise the Security Officer that the insulin pump cannot be removed because it is inserted with a catheter (needle) under the skin.

Insulin pumps and supplies must be accompanied by insulin.

Advise our Security Officers if you are experiencing low blood sugar and are in need of medical assistance.
