Thinking of spending a week in Williamsburg instead of at the world (Yikes! did I really say that:confused: ???) ... Thought we may save some money .... we would drive from NY ... Anyone ever stayed during the summer ???

You should be able to rent something in VA for far less than the value of the points traded, even for summer. I've seen someone on the rent/trade board offer a 2 BR at the Marriott there for 5 nights in a studio at DVC.

I traded in for a studio at Ford's Colony last year in late June/early July. It was 80 points for the week. The room was nice, but a little small after being in ane and two bedrooms at WDW. But the resort was nice overall, we had the points anyway which had to be used. I don't know what the cash price would have been for the room. The summers are very hot and humid there. That did detract a little from the enjoyment, but there are limited times we could go due to school considerations. We enjoyed Busch gardens and Water Country also. If you want to know anything else, let me know!

Besides owning DVC, we also own at the Marriott Manor Club in Williamsburg. Although it is hot and humid in Williamsburg in the summer, I think it is a wonderful place. The 2 bedroom units at the Manor Club are very nice.

We love going to Williamsburg. There is so much to do if you love history. The area has the historic triangle: Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown settlement. There are also civil war re-enactments in the area at times.

Moreover, we enjoy Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It is a very beautiful theme park (the theming being Europe and old Canada).

We traded for the Marriot Manor Club next June, we have been to Williamsburg before but not for many years. We look forward to the variety that you can find in Williamsburg, a little somthing for each of us...History/Busch Gardens/Beach

1 Bdrm 160 pts, although it is probably cheaper to pay cash we have the points so why not use them.

go advertise on the rental/trade board and also try

www.tug2.net

they have a list of rental and wanting to rent (by it is surpose to be only 60 days out)

also there is a Marriott board on that site.

then if nothing comes up - exchange for it with DVC.

It is not a hard exchange - this year I got Memorial day holiday week for my Westgate.

We too just recently traded for a one bedroom at the Marriott Ford's Colony using 160 pts. We stayed at this location about 4 years ago in a studio and it was great. The grounds are lovely. We are really looking forward to doing this the end of June.

Manor Club is a fairly easy trade, even for summer and a 2 BR. One should be able to rent a 2 BR for $700-1000 for summer, less for other times of the year.
