Anyone to Cancun lately?

Trying to get a quick trip in for Memorial day week. Husband needs a break from Disney...any hotels and resorts for a three and six year old that you have been to lately with great beach and pool? Thanks

we also wanted something different and decided to add it onto the tail end of our WDW trip but are staying at the Iberostar Tucan in Playa Del Carmen which was recommended to me by my travel agent who went with her family. She recommended that we stay in Playa (30 minutes south of Cancun) since we were taking our kids because she said it was more laid back and less party mode from all the spring breakers. I would suggest going and picking up some mexico brochures from the agents office near you. There you can get an idea of what your looking at. Also try doing a search for Cancun or Playa Del Carmen Resort Reviews. I got a lot of information that way also. I'd be glad to let you know how are trip goes. BTW, my kids are 15 and 5. We stayed at the Iberostar Tucan 2 years ago and loved it. Playa is the best area for families. You don't even need to leave the resort. There are all kinds of animals hanging (monkeys incl) around the resort. We did ferry over to Cozumel and spent some time in the town of Playa as well. Our kids were 15mos and 3 at the time. We too are looking for a non disney vacation and Cancun is one of the front runners, however, we now have 3 kids and the baby is not so travel friendly. We went to disney in early December and the plane ride home was nitemare!! We really are looking for somewhere within a 3hour plane ride from NJ. I am going to keep searching. One more option for you may be the Royal Piramides in Cancun. We had a one bedroom suite with a jacuzzi on the balcony and full kitchen..that was great and quite afforadable.

A friend of ours has booked the Royal Sands in Cancun though this company and the prices sound reasonable:

The Royal Sands is a timshare resort and is supposed to be one of the most luxurious is the world.
