Leaving in Wed with my 3 kids. Trying to get my packing done today (in our latest snowstorm!). The weather looks pretty similar for the next week as it does right now, highs in the mid 60's to mid 70's and lows in the 40-55 range. Just wondering what everyone is wearing. Should I pack shorts or mostly just pants? Is a fleece sufficient at night or do we need something heavier? Gloves & hats? We sometimes like to go from early morning to late at night so trying to figure out what will get us through the day without having to carry too much. Thanks!

I'm curious too! I was wondering what the weather would be like, I've already checked online. Seems to be cloudy, makes me a bit sad because I wanted to see sunshine too!

We were there last week... we wore pants most days with tshirts and a hoody or sweatshirt overtop for the morning and tied it around our waist or put it in my backpack for the afternoon and threw them back on late evening for fireworks. 2 days we wore capris and tshirts the whole day. It was a mixture, and I packed way too much to cover all bases, but on average we were happiest in the pants and tshirts with sweaters overtop for the chilly parts of the day. :) (keep in mind I come from northern canada, it's -30 degrees today here at home, so the weather may have felt warmer to me than to someone from a warmer climate! LOL!)

Today, I wore shorts, but a front came through and it has cooled off. Tonight, the low will be in the 40s with a wind chill in the 30s. For the next week, temps will swing between highs in the mid 60s to low 70s. For the most part, I've been wearing pants and they haven't seemed to much. It does get pretty cool at night, but fleece should be sufficient unless the wind gets really strong.

Weather can change day to day in FL this time of year. We'll be arriving on Feb 14th and I'm bringing everything from coats to shorts!!

That depends what you are use to. We live in the south and 60's and 70's is not shorts weather for us.

That can be deceiving. I'm in PA and it's about 18 degrees right now. So you may think, wow if it's 50 or 60 it will be so warm to me! It's not bad with the sun out but after dark you will be cold no matter where you are from if it's only in the 50's. I remember I went in March 2 years ago and it was only in the 50's on my arrival day and I froze that night at MK. It was very disappointing because I envisioned all winter sitting out on my balcony at BLT soaking in the sun. Between the colder temps and winds up high, I never sat out.

Of course that is difference in weather morning/ night that shows in the forecast. Lows of 40-55 that op is talking about will most likely be when the sun is not out. For our upcoming trip I am layering and not taking shorts at all, yet I know some of my Colorado pals would be super comfortable with shorts even in the lower temperatures (45-50).

We were there last week and DW and DS9 were freezing. High Temps in the 60's, and 2 days in the low 70's. The 2 warmest days were the only times they took off their coats. Otherwise it was long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, sweaters, DW wore scarves, vests.

I wore a short-sleeve during the days and put on a sweater or fleece at night. The temps dropped quickly after sundown.

BTW - we are from Connecticut, and are used to the cold. Still, we (I should say DW) was a little unprepared for the cooler temps.

We experienced these temps when we were there in November, and we're from Buffalo so used to the very cold. I wore pants/jeans most of the time and wore a hoodie or zip up fleece. Mornings were pretty cold and when it did warm up, it wasn't until late in the day around 2pm or 3pm. There was a day or two when I tied the hoodie around my waist in the afternoon but for the most part, it was borderline hoodie weather in the afternoon. We unfortunately didn't get any pool time in.

We've been here since Wednesday. Jeans and a short sleeved shirt, with a sweatshirt/zip up fleece has worked well for us. As others have said, we use the long sleeved stuff in the early morning, and at night, and carry them if/when it gets too hot.

Here now. We've mostly worn jeans or capris, tshirts and hoodies. I got cold this evening in thin yoga pants and a hoodie, but that's the first time. I had shorts on until the sun went down. We are cold natured souls from Virginia and I way overestimated the weight of clothing we would need. I have winter coats with us. So not needed, at least this week. :)

We are going at the end of March and both my wife and I will have a couple of pairs of the pants that are long but have leg zippers so you can take the bottom part of the legs off and have shorts. The parts that you take off are easily stored in a backpack or even your pocket. This is the best way to be prepared for changing temps.

I was there 2nd week of January with similar weather, I wore pants almost the whole time, but had shorts on hand in my backpack. Only wore shorts one day and regretted not having pants in my bag as it started to pour and was cold, a poncho doesn't really keep your legs warm sadly. I wore a windproof jacket with hood most the time too. A extra warm hoodie I wore one night for Illuminations, it was cold. And a hat was nice to wear to cover my ears. We didn't see a lot of sun, but even then once it sets it cools off fast. I would bring a little of everything if possible because if you have to buy a hoodie or jacket or pants down there they are pricey. I didn't need gloves. So, personally I think you could not bring shorts and probably not get too hot if it is only 70s, tshirts and jacket/hoody & hat.

I agree with the "it depends what you are used to".
I'm good with a fleece and gloves, when I have to spend a lot of time outdoors, until about 20 degrees F. If I am just walking from the car to indoors, a fleece, hands in pockets, will do to about 0 degree F.

So for the 40-70 range, just a fleece would be plenty. I'd plan on jeans at night and probably capris or long shorts during the day.

DD#2 and I stayed on Hotel Plaza Blvd last week and did DTD 2 nights (no parks). We are life-long Jersey girls and the cold doesn't really bother me. We sunned poolside in bathing suits (low 70s) during the day, capris and a t shirt in the afternoon (when we drove around town shopping) but at night I did wear pants, low boots, and a light sweatshirt. OTOH my dd is a tiny little thing and wore a long sweater-coat, jeans and a shirt. No gloves or hats though.

Wow, seems like I have a lot of packing to do then. We will bring coats and shorts! Next time I might just arrange our vacation to be around April for more warmer temps.

Just got back yesterday from a 6 night stay. We (me, DH, DD9, DS7 & DS3) wore shorts or capris everyday. A sweatshirt in the early morning and evening and even some afternoons when the sun snuck behind clouds. Some mornings the kids would complain that it was chilly when we were waiting for the buses but that was at 7-7:30am. They were never cold once we got to the parks. Go figure. The latest we stayed out was 9pm so it could have gotten cold later.

I did pack everything because you never know. We each had two pairs of long pants, heavier weight sweatshirts (that we wore to/from the airport in NJ) and even hat and gloves which never came out of our suitcase but I figured if we didn't pack them we'd need them. We also brought a little fleece blanket which was great to sit on for night parades and the kids did curl up in it one morning waiting for the bus. I remembered buying a blanket on a previous (chillier) January trip and didn't want that expense again.

This time of year in the south is almost impossible to plan for, temperature-wise. One day last week we had to use the air conditioner and the heater on the same day.
