Anyone there now...weather? crowds? wait time?

I been reading that it's supposed to be raining hard all week! Curious how it affected crowds today! Did the rain keep the APers away?

Rainy, rainy, rainy! Make sure you bring extra shoes & socks bc mine were soaked! The wait times for the rides were good. The longest was 40 min. for SM. Everything else was 25 min & below.

We decided to get one last trip in before our APs expire on Sunday. Will you be there on Saturday? I will be on the lookout for LGMH! I am coming armed with ponchos, extra socks and hats!

We come in on Saturday and will be in the park late Sat. afternoon. I have a LGMH on my lanyard.

We might go on Saturday but not if it looks like it's going to be raining all day. We already did that in december so we've had our fill of wet socks. :) It's raining right now at my house (an hour from DLR). I'm assuming it's probably raining over there too. Hopefully no rain on saturday.

About rain and crowds.... when we went in december it rained all day and I can't say that it seemed that much less crowded. It was a saturday but still I was hoping more people would have cleared out. There was no wait for dumbo but we didn't want to ride it in the rain (DS would have probably had a fit with rain hitting his face like that). We did go on the casey jr train a couple of times with a shorter wait than usual but I don't think the slightly lower crowds made up for being soggy all day. I have to say though that DLR in the rain was MUCH more fun than watching the Rose Parade in the rain which we did a few years ago.

Good luck to everyone braving the rain this week!

I'll be there in the rain with you all.

Wondering what kind of shoes to wear...

Considering Crocs for the kids...at least I can dry them off and put dry socks on.

Worried that tennis shoes will get wet and then just stay wet for the duration...??

Anyone have advice or tips?

We bring lots of shoes and socks just in case. We always end up soaked on Splash or Grizzly so we have gotten used to them being wet. :thumbsup2

We are heading up tomorrow, staying until Thurs. I am off to Target to get some ponchos. I am trying to think of this as an adventure.

I've never tried this but I've heard some people say you can put a plastic bag over your sock and then put your shoes on. What about putting packing tape on the inside of the crocs where the holes are so that rain doesn't come in through the holes? Not sure if that would help but it's something i just thought of.

DH and I both wore tennis shoes when we went in the rain. His have sort of a mesh part on top that he didn't realize was there so his socks were wet almost immediately. I was wearing sketchers sort of suede-like tennis shoes and it took longer for the water to get in. Even after my feet were wet they actually didn't really feel like they were but DH was miserable sloshing around in his shoes.

Good luck!

Just thought I would chime in with a local weather report. It is pouring! And I don't mean a little rain, I mean, pouring! My dog looked at me this morning while he was standing at the back door as if to say, "You want me to go do my business out THERE?!?!?"

Wet, wet, wet.

(Btw, I hate the rain. sigh That's why I live in So Cal.)

Thanks, Dreams.

Would you mind adding thoughts about clothes and shoes? From the weather report I've seen, the weekend will clear a bit, but then the rain will set back in. 58-60 degrees and rain. What does that mean for clothes in CA? (It's different here in Denver, where 60 is pretty darned nice and I will run around in short sleeves and capris).

If it's pouring, I'd better get my hands on some waterproof shoes, I guess.

Crocs in the rain is a really bad idea for kids. They will be slipping everywhere as there is no grip on the bottom. I wore crocs when we went last February and it rained the whole time, it was like walking on ice and I almost fell multiple times.

I'll add some thoughts! :goodvibes I would be wearing jeans, long sleeved shirt and probably a sweatshirt in 60 degree weather. Now, DLR tends to be slightly warmer than the weather reports if the sun is out and also walking around can make you warm. But, having said that, you might be quite warm since you're used to a colder climate. IMO, you should plan on jeans and since you might feel warm in the 60 degree "heat" maybe a short sleeved t-shirt and then a sweatshirt for morning and night. Hope that helps!

And, as a PP stated, DLR can be very slippery when it's wet. DH, DS and I were all wearing shoes that I thought had pretty good traction but we were all slipping in some areas, like the store outside IASW.

You're welcome. I guess the "what to wear" is a little more difficult. 60 and rain would never mean capris for me! LOL I am wearing jeans, a 3/4 sleeved shirt, tennis shoes, and a sweatshirt to run errands today. But remember, I HATE the rain and I am used to So. Cal. weather. If I could avoid going outside at all today, I would.

The local paper's web site says it's "58F, feels like 50F." Maybe that helps a little?

Not dreams but I live an hour away too. No shorts, you will need a sweater and pants, at least. I made the mistake last year of going in yoga pants and tanks, lol, and I wont make that mistake again. If it's not raining a sweater will probably do but at night it will be pretty chilly. If I go in a couple weeks I will be wearing waterproof pants, rainboots and a waterproof jacket, I'm not messing around this year as I remember being cold and wet last year.

Thanks to you all, so much!

Ok, so I'm planning on jeans for all of us, t-shirts, a sweatshirt for each, raincoat for each, and I need to figure out shoes. I have some packable rain pants for each of us that I will stuff into the bottom of my backpack in case it really pours.

I looked at REI.com and can get some good waterproof Keen shoes (Skyline WP's for the kids and Targhees for DH and me), but it will cost me.

(Have to convince DH that it's worth $300 in shoes for four of us to not ruin a vacation that costs a LOT more than that overall!)

Wish I had more faith in the plastic bag over the sock in the tennis shoes idea...I just can't imagine how your feet aren't still cold and miserable...?
