Anyone there now that can comment on FP enforcement

Thanks for report. I'm glad to hear CM still let you ride. I must say 2 hours wait to TSM is crazy, honestly I would just leave and not because of another FP but because it is simply crazy that time was so off. I must say the only time I used SB line at TSM it turned much longer then it was posted. Something is not right with this ride, when I rode, it stopped several times, last time right before we were suppose to be off and we were waiting for goog 15 min till it moved again. One of the reasons we do not do TSM, not worth all the waiting.

There was a group of four behind us in line that also had FP for ToT and two of them got out of line after about an hour to go ahead to ToT. DD was begging me to do the same but I sort of felt like I already had invested an hour into this wait that I didn't want to just get out of line. Thankfully the CM at ToT let us in the FP line or DD would have been really upset with me.

I must tell you that NextGen scares me as well but I am waiting to see what kind of animal it will actually be. Very possible it will worth money spend, I do not think they will charge for something not appealing, nobody will buy then. Anyway, time will show.

I don't know, it amazes me....not just what people accept, but how they're willing to pay more $$$$ for less. Convenience is one thing, many will pony up big bucks.IMO

My first post! But I've lurked forever.;)

Anyway, whatever new money making system Disney comes up with will quickly become part of the fabric of our experience. We all became very skilled at gaming the "no expiry" FP, but as the various touring and FP strategies became more well known, a lot of the advantage of having a strategy diminished.

A new system brings new opportunity to strategize for those who will put in the effort to get the most out of their visit. Those of us on the (b)leading edge of change will adapt the quickest and benefit the most.

Bring it on. :)

Convenience is a big thing at Disney. All of us spend a lot of time running for FPs, waiting for parades, characters. Maybe it will be the end of all this and we will just walk from attraction to attraction, even if it will be scheduled. Considering that there are not that many FP rides to begin with and even if they FP all rides, many will still have no lines, we may have plenty of time to smell roses and relax. Add personalized aspect like characters know your childs name when you approach, it may be very nice. My only fear how much it will cost, how much onsite will cost and will I be able to survive without it.

So, NexGen will cost me more money?

Would it really suprise you? To me Disney is just trying to maximize profits and maybe get a little more $$$ where they haven't previously. The fact that Disney hasn't pursued a system like Universal's pass system surprises me. Stay on property, gets FP's, pay extra, get FP's etc.

Who knows what the NexGen will bring. But FP enforcement seems to be step 1. Maybe getting ready for when you can book ride times in advance.

But, if a WDW trip comes down to have to schedule every minute of everyday, ADR's, ride times, parade spots etc, I think I'll pass. I know some will love that, but not me. It's suppose to be a vacation right? :sad2:

Just got back. We were in Disney for 2 wks (Mar 3-17). We didn't see any major issues with the enforcement. The CMs did mention at the distribution area that we would need to use the fast pass during the one hour window. The fastpasses all have them written on it that late arrivals can not be accomodated. The Times guide all show that Fastpasses need to be used during the one hour window. I can't see why anyone would not know.

With that said, I think it made the lines longer. Instead of those who waited until later at time to use it, there seems to be a lot more using it during the window time and it made the fastpass lines rather long in most cases. The worse one was the Safari at AK. It went all the out and they had to rope the area to the side and it made for a difficult time move through it.

Yuck!

Just when I think I'm starting to figure you out, you say something like this. Is this not inconsistent with your oft-stated position that if you show up late you should not be allowed to ride, that you are glad for enforcement? :confused3 :goodvibes

Personally, I think you are all planning it all wrong using FP's to begin with.

Firstly, on the very rare occasion I use FP's, I always come back at the alloted time. I make sure I don't stray too far from it. For example, yesterday, I went to DAK, got a FP for Kilimanjaro Safari. There were signs there saying clearly to return within the time window. I was surprised, 'cause it never occurred to me people had to be told <.< So while I had about an hour, I went to the Pangani Forest Trail, and enjoyed reading, and taking pictures, and asking CMs questions about the animals.
I got back at 11.20am, my FP was for 11.30am. I sat on a bench right next to it and waited. I noticed a couple people had arrived early and were not allowed in. I figured that's normal, it never occurred to me as I said that CMs never enforced time frames for being early or late. At 11.30, I went up and she looked at the time, and let me through. The second CM merely took the ticket and never checked.

Now like I said, I rarely ever take FPs, and when I do, I actually end up giving them away. And in all honesty, the only time I take FPs, it is when I hit DAK or Epcot. DHS, I wait for Fantasmic to happen. The Park clears out and I end up doing ToT and RnRC at that time. The best part is MK. I always go to the park around 8pm. Depending on when Wishes plays, it'll depend on when I do the rides. I have noticed the best time to go to MK is after Wishes. I get at least 6 to 8 rides done in a couple hours once Wishes has gone by. The park clears out so quickly that there are hardly any lines.

But back to the original posting about FPs, I do believe it is the right thing to enforce the time frame. I mean what was the point of having the time frame to begin with if it was never respected. Like I said it never occurred to me that people would actually deliberately come later in the day when their FPs are 5 hours past due time. In a way I'm glad it's enforced. Cause I make the effort to be on time, so should others <.<

That's the way that you tour. But its not wrong for me to want to enjoy the ease of the old system. I have enjoyed being able to leave a certain area if we felt like without being scared to miss our fp return window. I like lingering somewhere else if we're having too much fun to run back. I'm not saying I'm entitled to it - I just liked it and will miss it.

Have you ever been on IASW and gotten to the end and you can't get off the boat yet and you keep hearing "It's a Small World After All"...

And even though you know you are going to hear that "It's a Small World" song again and again, you still get on the ride...

That's what this thread is like...

"It's a pass to return, It's a pass don't be late"
"It's a pass that will make your ADR wait"
"Don't you stress, Don't you frown"
"Don't get mad, Don't get down"
"It's a Fastpass After all"

"It's a Fastpass After All"
"It's a Fastpass After All"
"It's a Fastpass After All"
"It's a Fast, Fast pass"

Cute. I like your team too!

Another fast Fast Pass lane experience for us today -- this time at Soaring'. Fastest we have ever gotten on this ride.

Of minor interest: our window started at 11:05 and the CM would not let us in at 11:00. She said "a couple more minutes." I asked her again at 11:04 and she waved us through.

Theoretically though, if enforcement were to improve FP lines, one would expect it to happen late in the day. One would expect the return lines early in the day to actually slow down as all the hoarders are whipped into shape and return during the window.

This reminds me of all the people reporting back soon after the CC guarantee took effect on ADR's saying it was working because they were able to book CRT a week before their trip....... when CRT had required not just a guarantee, but prepayment all along.

I'm glad you had a fast line though!

I like to keep you confused, you know, women thing.;)

On a serious note, she had more then enough time to be on time if TSM line did not double. I would personally just walk to TSM CM and ask to stamp my FP but I guess another CM was aware of situation and acted accordingly. Yes she could leave line but why, she was promissed hour and got 2 instead, totally Disney fault.

Have we confirmed that CM's do indeed have stamps with which to validate a fastpass for late acceptance?

Not that I heard of stamp but one of the posters told that when ride was broken and she was on that ride, she approached CM because now she was late to her next FP and he did something to her FP.
