Either way in June or July you're gonna need at least 30!
Even 35-50 depending on your skin type.

i use the spray kind (not so greasy) and the highest factor available in that form (45?)

even with that on, you'll get burned....that sun doesn't stop for a second..

and yes, June is HOT!! Last time i was there in June (2 years ago) it was just as hot as anything i'd experienced in July and August!!!

June is hot. We use Ultrasun 30 and it is fab as it is once a day protection so you don't have to keep applying:thumbsup2. It is a bit more expensive but lasts upto 3 years when opened

Factor 50 for the first two weeks, then factor 30 for the last week....even if it's a dull day. (What's one of them, then?!)

Highest factor available
Florida sun is a killer, never underestimate it.

i tend to use a factor 30. i like the nivea bronze and a factor 40 on my shoulders as thats where i burn. remember you can still get burnt through the clouds !!

Oh I definitely agree with all above! We used factor 85 from public in banana boat range it's a spray and even with that I had to apply more often than 1 and 1/2 hrs it's supposed to last in the waterparks. It's was fine for longer in the parks though! It was quite reasonable $10 :thumbsup2

This is something that's been worrying me lately, actually!

I'm incredibly fair skinned, a little bit ginger and I burn in February, whilst it's cloudy, so burning in the summer is a given!

My nieces and my boyfriend however pretty much absorb the sun and turn a lovely shade of tanned after a couple of days... it makes me incredibly jealous, whilst I sit there closely resembling a red faced and frazzled lobster.

I'm not sure how I'll handle the Florida sun! Lots of people have advised that I use SPF50 or so for the first week/two weeks and then gradually lower it once my skin has become accustomed to the sun.

Silly question... but is there anyone out there with fair skin that's been able to do this? I'll be heart broken if I come home just as pale as when I left!

I have fair skin and this is what I do. Though you have to be careful and assess each day as it comes, so if it's particularly hot be willing to go back up to the higher factor cream. Also, I find the best I can achieve is a golden glow, I don't think I'm designed to go brown!!

At the moment Boots have a Soltan cream pack for £12.99 which has a factor 50, 30, 15 and aftersun in it. It's v good value for money, so OH and I have bought one each :)

I never tan, nor does my daughter. We do go a shade whiter than our normal blue tinge though. :)

I always come back the same shade as I went..everybody always asks me if the weather was awful:)
Personally I don't believe in getting a sun tan.. :confused3 We always take as high a factor as we can.
I work for the NHS and book people into a skin cancer screening clinic...I have seen what the sun can do!
My see through skin is staying just that.:)

I burn far too easily, especially on my shoulders (and my nose :lmao:).

I normally use factor 50 and come back just as pale as when I left. People always ask 'Does it not bother you that you don't get a tan?', my reply is always 'I'm having too much fun to notice!'

:goodvibes

We are here at the moment, it's been very hot, even when it's been raining. Kids tan easily without burning so we use factor 30 on them all the time. Scott and I started on 30 and now using factor 15(the spray non greasy type).i have found that its the shoulders that burn the easiest, so use extra here:this has seemed to be right for us as we've not burnt. Just wear cream all the time reapplying often even when cloudy
I cringe now at the memory of sun bathing as a teenager using cocoanut oil.

We use the Coppertone continuous sprays bought out there. They are a fine mist no need to rub in and super quick to apply!

DD will have kids factor 50 (and will come home tanned!)

DH & I will have factor 30.

If you go to their website the is a $1 off coupon you can print at the moment ;)

it depends how fair is fair...
DS is whiter than white and he never does anything but burn...
he has two shades: white and red....nothing in between...
so there's no getting used to the sun for him....
when in orlando he has to use the highest SPF the entire time.....and not let even an inch go unslathered...
but as i said, he is very very very very very very fair.....very....

Although I don't burn too easily, DD's skin doesn't withstand the sun quite as long and she always manages to go a bit pink the first few days in Florida, despite applying high factor sun cream vigilantly.

Last year I ordered a few bottles of Australian Gold and neither of us burnt at all. I am definitely using it again this year.

Another key factor to remember is to keep reapplying. I know they say on the bottles that it lasts all day and all that malarky but we have got into the habit of reapplying every time we stop to use a restroom.

I also prefer the sprays to the lotions as I cannot STAND having cream on my hands. One word of caution with the lovely sprays though: Beware when the wind is blowing if you are spraying it on outside. Your tan may be a bit creative :rotfl: Just saying :rolleyes1

Here now, haven't personally had to bother with sun cream, it's been either rainy or cloudy about 90% of the trip so far! Although when the suns out, it's hot. The kids have 50+ on most days, if I use it's only 15.

O no im there on thursday next week, really didnt want the rain as the rides get stopped & wanted to come back with a tan that wont be happening then :( unhappy bunny !!!
