Anyone there now, any mosquitoes?

Headed down in a few days. It never crossed my mind, since coming down from the north, that mosquitoes might still be out and pestering people. Is this the case? Our 2 year old is usually a magnet and must be very sweet because mosquitoes love her. Should I be adding bug spray to the packing list?

I just checked in today, Daffodilmom21, so I will let you know tomorrow. They gave us a can of Backwoods OFF at the check-in desk (I heard they were still doing this due to the zika virus. Bugs were out a little bit last night when we were at Lake Louisa State Park 30 minutes away - night temp got down to 59F. But Disney sprays for mosquitos at the Fort so I am hoping for a better experience tonight.

Will let you know.

We were there two weeks ago. Never had to use the free can of Off. Didn't see or hear a single mosquito.

Just left the Fort last Friday and never saw one single mosquito! The only insects we encountered at all were a few little flying bugs along the water's edge at the beach - definitely not mosquitoes!

We sat outside last night to watch the Packer/Lions game, ( until 11:45), and they were biting. We used the spray they provided, and it worked. But, not before we each had several bites.

We arrived this afternoon and got a few bites also.

Just dumped out a bucket of water, with mosquito larva in it, today. They are still around.

As I read this thread, I can't help to think, that in my trips down there, we have never had an issue with the "Bugs". We usually have bug spray with us (it's a staple in the camper) but I don't recall using it at all and have not had an issue. Of course others may have (and usually do have) a different experience.

Although, it sounds like the Fort is still giving out the Free Cans of bug repellent, so you should be in good shape.

Daffodillmom,

This morning I can report that mosquitos really weren't an issue last night. I do have some bites from the prior night off-site that itched but it was not an issue here. It might still behoove you to be prepared for your DD but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Plus if the temps are cooler with lows in the 50s or so, it would be less of a problem.

Never had an issue in Jan or Feb, that's part of the reason we like that time of year.

We killed 2 mosquitoes last night in our camper. They either like us or this site. Never had an issue before. That free can of Off is gonna come in handy.

Never in our 42 years of camping at FW do we remember seeing, or being bitten by mosquitoes, but maybe we just aren't tasty!! :)
I do know that some people are just mosquito magnets though - have a friend that will get bitten anywhere!

Have never even brought repellent with us. LA folks here, so maybe we're immune!! Really think Disney does do a great job of 'prevention' though.

We've never had a problem here although we often camp in the summer. However, last night something was biting all over our legs and saw a large mosquito. I would use the repellant (we got cutter) on your daughter.

1) We have trained the Skeeters at The Fort to not bother the guests.
2) Like children and cats, they don't always obey, but most do.

Hmmm..... I can imagine that interview Question...

"What experience do you have in training mosquitos?"
"What is your success rate?"
:lmao:

1) You need a very tiny whip and chair.
2) Like any other animal, each skeeter has his/her own personality.
3) Ones who behave get a sweet, ones who don't behave get DEET.
