Anyone take acid blockers long-term?

I wonder what the long term side effects are? My doc says none... but thats so hard to believe. That stomach acid is there for a reason, and I worry about having none. (The med I take kills all stomach acid supposedly.) I am talking 6 years....

My sister has only been on the OTC stuff for 3 years and her doctor told her she wouldn't have any side affects either. So far so good.

It's been about 7 years for me. I've been okay so far. I worried about long-term effects as well, but my condition could have turned cancerous, so I had to weigh my options.

I had/have Barrett's Esophagus, BTW.

I have read that you can get stomach polyps or something to that effect from the meds.
