Anyone suggestions for affordable Lion King tix?

We are going to NYC for two nights in mid Jan. Would really like to be able to catch Lion King as we have never had the opportunity to see it. However, we can not in good conscious spend $558 on tickets for the four of us! That is for a Sun. afternoon 1pm show in the back of the Orchestra section. Didn't know if there was a way to reduce the cost of these tickets? Also, has anyone had the pleasure of seeing the Lion King in NYC and if so, would the Mezzanine tickets put a damper on the type of experience the show offers? Any advice/experiences are welcom. TIA!

I think in January they have specials for reduced prices. Do you have American Epress or Citibank, sometimes they offer good seats, and I thought I saw something mentioned on mousesavers once. Stub Hub, sometimes they have tickets. The NY convention and Visitors Bureau might help too. Also some shows have partner hotels, like a package deal etc with tickets.

Not sure if this will work for the Lion King but we have gone to NY to see several shows on Boardway and the day of the show a lot of the theaters put their tickets on half price. We would goes down to the ticket stand and purchase our tickets for that evening. My DH and I have purchased tickets this way several times.

This would interest me greatly! By ticket stand do you mean the Will Call window or is there like an actual stand outside of the theater? Do they also do this for matinee shows or just evening? Thanks!

I was looking for tickets to the Christmas show at Radio City and someone here on the DIS suggested goldstar.com. You have to sign up on their website to be eligible for the tickets (no cost to do that). They have mostly weekday shows, for specific dates. They continue to add shows so keep checking. I did get tickets for about 1/2 the cost!!
