Anyone staying at Pop soon?

I know this probably sounds crazy but I can't think of any other way to find out. I am hoping that if someone is going to be staying at Pop Century soon maybe they could do me a BIG favor and look at the two rooms I requested to see what kind of view they have. I have a feeling that one probably doesn't look too good and I want to change it if so.

We are requesting the 50's section, building 2, 4th floor, room 2461. I was hoping to get one that had a view of the pool AND lake. We like to stand outside our room alot and so I was trying to make the view worthwhile. My second choice was 70's section, building 6, 4th floor, room 6461. I have watched all the Pop Century YouTube videos I can handle to try and catch a glimpse of it with no success! :crazy2: I would just hate to make a bad request, I'd feel guilty the whole time. I'm trying too hard to make this trip as perfect as can be I guess. :confused3

Anyway, if anyone is going and might be able to swing by these rooms on their way around I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

I'm not staying at Pop now or soon, but I will advise you NOT to request specific rooms. If that room, or those rooms, are occupied, the person assigning rooms has zero idea why you chose that room and, since there's only a one in 2,880 chance of it being available, place you anywhere else if it's not.

There are no rooms on the ends of the buildings, so there is no room that faces a pool AND the lake. A room in building 2 that faces in the direction of the bowling pin pool will actually FACE buiding 3, i.e. no view.

As near as I can tell, room 6461 faces room 0412 - and looks out over the giant foosball court. It most assuredly does not face any water whatsoever.

Instead, request the FEATURE/S you desire.

OOPS! My mistake I guess. I was meaning to tell them around rm# 6437. Glad you caught that. I guess I will just tell them lake view 4th floor? Could I maybe say corner room as well or would that be too much? I don't know about this hotel but I know corner rooms usually have less traffic in fornt of them and that's why I ask. Not only does it mean less noise but it will be easier for everyone as we are outside the room enjoying the view. Thanks!!

Corner room might not be asking for too much, but it might be too confusing - there are 'inside' corners, too, near the elevators/ice machines.

Two suggestions: First - and I know this is going to sound petty, but it's based on information I've gleaned from previous posts - rather than ask for a lake view (which you may well be told doesn't exist or even, as happened to one DISer, that there is no lake at Pop :confused3 ), request "facing the lake". It sounds the same, I know - but for some reason, apparently the two phrases mean different things to CRO/WDTC.

Second, one of the 'sticky' threads at the top of this forum - I think the fourth one down, but don't quote me, but there aren't many so you should be able to easily find the thread - contains links to the FAQs for most of the Disney resorts. Find the original "Groovy New Pop Century" FAQ. There's a resort map on page one... but on page two... there's a building layout! It displays which rooms are where in each building; plus, one of those two posts explains the entire numbering system: first number is the building, second number is the floor, third and fourth numbers are the room.

Hmm... let me think... the problem I see with requesting an end room (my interpretation of what you mean by a corner room) is still that you're limiting your possibilities.

The walkways at Pop go all the way around each floor, so even if you're not in an end room you won't be more than um, twelve rooms away from the end of the building.

I would make the specific location (end/corner) the lowest of your priorities. Decide which of the other two is more important - fourth floor or facing the lake - then call with your requests in the order of importance.

The problem is, the more requests and the more specific those requests, the smaller the pool of rooms that may be able to satisfy all one's requests. That's why it's advisable to keep them minimal and general, and list them in order of importance.

These maps show room numbers. Maybe you could request 70s building facing the lake? That is pretty general w/ alot of rooms to pick.

And I think this is the thread pp was talking about with rooms
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=7137030&postcount=19

so it seems like 6x37 - 6x48 & 6x49 - 6x60 face the lake (I think :p )

...x being what floor you are on.
Silly, isn't it :confused3 ? I was especially surprised for the DISer who was told "There's no lake at Pop Century!"

Thanks for providing the actual links, instead of my "maps" to the maps! That makes it easier for the OP!

We were in 3113 in December- an outside corner room with a lake view.

Just be advised that it's a little bit of a walk to the parking lot- since you have to kind of go around the lake.
