Hey all. Just curious to hear from any DISer's who might have stayed at the Poly Concierge recently. My crew and I are heading their way under 2 1/2 weeks and I'm interested to hear how things were. A while back, I heard that things in the lounge had changed drastically since last summer. Just curious what things were like recently.

Are there still sodas available?

How about Beer and wine for the older mousketeers?

Anything else change you feel like sharing would be welcomed as well!

Thanks in advance!

We were there in May and things are as wonderful as always.

Soda, wine and beer are still available. There is now a coffee machine so you can have a latte, hot chocolate etc.. I love that thing because as a tea drinker, I'm thankful that the water is now very hot.

People have reported that prepared oatmeal is gone from all the concierge lounges but I haven't really noticed.

Desserts were more varied last month than in the past.

So if anything, I think you will find it better than ever. Have a great time!

I was there last week for the week.

Beer available

Wine available

The evening offerings were slightly different than last year but by that I mean it wasn't the exact same menu we had last year - an addition a couple of nights this year was the fixings for Caesar salad.

We just returned from a 13 night stay and I have to say we found the concierge staff and services to be top notch, as usual.

The morning offerings have been sorely limited from years past. That said, however, there is still plenty to choose from. Each a.m. there were bagels, pineapple/coconut bread, cheese and cinnamon danish, mixed fruit, 3 types of cereal, and croissants. Readily available for the asking were bread, instant oatmeal, and yogurt. All of the normal juices, milk, coffee, tea, soda, water, etc. were also served.

Afternoon offerings were more extensive this year than in years past. Hummus and pita bread, popcorn with parmesan cheese, pretzels, goldfish, trail mix, tortilla chips and salsa, cookies, sodas, lemonade, iced tea, etc.

The evening service, as has always been the case, had a rotating menu with a variety of items--not changed over the year. The usual cheese/crackers and crudites were also served. We just love Dick's lo mein and chicken wings with his hot sauce! Caesar salad is served one night, fried rice and beef satay another, sushi on Mondays, etc.--I know there is a list of the offerings around, I just don't have mine handy. Suffice it to say--it was all good! Beer and wine were available and we had no trouble with availability.

Late evening desserts were much more varied this year although frequently not available after 9:00 p.m. due to the piggish nature of our fellow guests. The cordial selection, however, is much more limited--Bailey's, Kahlua, brandy, wine/beer.

The staff was most gracious, accommodating, and Hawaii was at 100% capacity for most of our stay. Still, this year was no where close to the chaos of last year--just must have been one of those years in 2004! :confused3 We had a thoroughly lovely visit and I'm sure you will too!

BTW Traveliz, did we cross paths during your visit? I did run into a few fellow Disers, but I don't know if you were one of them?

I need my English muffin fix in the morning. Not that I loved the long toaster lines but I did like the option of toasted muffins and bagels. Thanks. Susan

Yes, the toasters are still there. Unfortunately, no English Muffins--bagels are still a part of the service though. :)

thats good news to here everyone!
Thanks for sharing! I'm so excited, I cant believe the trip is so close! 17 more days until we leave!

Wahoo!

Stay away, stay away! The food and service are horrible!

Just goshin' you! :rotfl2: Are you awake now? Yeah, don't stay here because I want it to myself. ;) I've been hearing a lot of positive feedback on the Poly lately. The Poly is still on my list of to do's and hope it will be soon.

Do you think they'll adjust the variety a little with breakfast? Danishes, bagels, etc. are nice, but it would great to have something different that is unique to the resort itself.

Yes I waved to you from a nearby table when you were speaking with a former DISer. I did see you guys in the lounge alot usually in the mornings when we were all getting ready to head out.

I will say the evening choices were "abit" different than last summer (July). This year we had Caesar salad two nights (Sunday and Monday), fried rice was on the menu two nights (it was Mon and Tues or Tues and Wed) can't quite remember and we missed grilled chicken with terriyaki - we had that in October and December. We only didn't see what was in the lounge one night - that was Saturday as we were on our way home.

I forgot about the afternoon offerings myself - this is the first time we had noticed those choices - much more (although not alot) than in the past!
