We live in Arizona and generally take our Disney trips at Disneyland. Have been to WDW once before during a conference in Orlando and only went to Epcot. Have never taken the family to WDW before, so now we are going for a week at the end of May.

We are using one of our RCI trades and will be staying at Orange Lake's West Village in Kissimmee.

Has anyone reading this forum ever stayed here and have any comments they would like to share?

Thanks for your feedback!

West Village - it is a single story, no hot tub, the master bath is just a regular bath.

swimming pools are not very close. not enough swimming pools for the amount of guests.

now if you love to golf you will like it.

We are staying in a 2-bedroom Condo unit. Do you know if there is any difference between those units and the unit you are describing? Often times, the timeshare facilities we stay at also have part of the resort run as a hotel.

This is the link I have for Orange Lake's West Village ...

Thanks for your post!

no the west ones are the older units - the ones in the website are the new ones - the ones at River County (? I think is the name) - those are the brand new ones.

West is the originally one.

they are single level. would show you my pictures - but work doesn't like the link - so can't.

can just about guaranteed it won't look as nice as those pictures.

the section are West Village, North Village, East Village, West Villlage and the new River county? (not sure the name is right)

West Village dates back to the 80's (might even be 70's) one of the earlier timeshares in the Orlando area.

now because it is so big - there is a lot to do on the activities side.

We stayed in a 3 bdrm condo before Christmas and it was great. The unit was recently redone as most of the West Village now is.:thumbsup2 We were on the second floor in a multi story building right by the tennis courts. Orange lake is huge. We could walk to a pool near by, drive to the pool and water slides in River Country or walk to miniature golf.

this is the one I had

Two-bedroom Golf Villa – West
1,200 square feet
Sleeps up to 8
Fully-equipped kitchen
King-sized bed
Two queen-sized beds
Pullout sofa sleeper
Full-sized washer & dryer
One full bath
Two TVs
DVD/VCR player**
Ceramic tile floors
Private safe

except they were not 2 queen bed - but 2 double. so that is a big upgrade.

the livingroom is sunk down (so is the master)

yea the floor plan is not what I had.

you walk in the kitchen is to your left - dinning room - to the right is the second bedroom, then you go down 2 steps - to the livingroom - the master is on your right.

the master bedroom was a lot bigger than in their 360 degree view. and no desk -so if that is in now another upgrade!

We have stayed at Orange Lake for the past 4 years w/ my IL's. From what I understand, most of the west village has been updated. We are now staying at River Island because they just bought there. We love the place. It is very spread out, but we always rent a car anyway so it doesn't matter..they also have shuttles. Hope that helps!

We stayed in the Orange Lake West Village 6 months ago. At that time they were in the process of redoing the Villas-gutting and new furnishings. We stayed in a two bedroom condo on the 5th floor and from the time I stayed in a villa to the condo I can say that the condos are larger but furnished pretty much the same. I have stayed at Orange Lake 3 times and would go back again. I am not an owner and do not attend the talks to get you to buy (just don't answer the phone in the am) We were a 5 minute walk to the pools and across the walkway from the new icecream -deli store. This is a very large resort but we did not have any trouble getting around with a car. Have a great time!!

While we're not the most frequent visitors to Florida, we have stayed at 5 different timeshares in the area over the last decade, and as far as clean, friendly surroundings go, I don't think it gets much better than Orange Lake.

We stayed in the West Village a couple of years ago and we actually thought it was nice being on the quiet side of the resort. Our patio was the perfect place for an afternoon siesta: It was quiet and looked out onto the golf course. It is a very large resort, but it's only a couple minute drive to the river/pool area which is definitely worth the trip! The single story units are a real blessing because you don't need to worry about anybody above you coming in at 3am and performing some drunken riverdance routine.:yay:

I hope you have a great time!:thumbsup2

Our family loves Orange Lake...:lovestruc

You all are forgetting about the shuttles... yeah you have to wait for them but you will be dropped off at River Island.. and all the other swim areas..

We as a family are going next summer ... there are 14 of us and we havent gone in the past few years because of the oldest boy is into football and baseball with his high school... So next summer we are going to OLCC with him and all of us for the last time as a family before he goes off to college...:sad2:

Any way.. you will love it... the kids will love it ... lots of activities...
They even have a bus to the casino (boat) every year we say we are gonna do it but never do because of all the activities they have...bbq night, luau, and others...

West Village is closest to the main pool area... they have Bingo at 200 every day...

Hey becareful with your food dont leave it alone by the pool... I did that the first year and when I got back from getting a towel... the french fries were gone and all these birds were all around them...

I guess you had to be there it was funny...

Well anyway I hope you have a fun time... we sure do when we go...
