We are going next year and just wondered what people's views are on the place as I haven't been there before, how is the food and buses to the Disney parks?

Stayed here twice. As far as I can tell, almost everyone loves CBR resort except me. To me there is nothing exceptionally special about it and I hate that there are nine bus stops. I believe it's nine. It is so annoying to get on the bus and have to make up to eight more stops before we are on our way to the parks. Way too time consuming. Or else by the time the bus gets to your stop to pick you up it is standing room only. That's just my opinion though of course. You will get lots of people saying they love this resort or that it's their favorite.

I booked CBR in 2009 and then changed it because of the same reports. Yet it has the most amazingly beautiful theming. I can't say I've not been tempted since then but all those bus stops would do my head in. BUT, if you had a car and were planning to drive to the parks on some/most days, it would be perfect

We were booked to stay there for January but chafed to SSR 1 we love SSR and 2 the reports also worried me.

We stayed there as part of our wedding/honeymoon and while I agree the theming is beautiful, I really disliked the restaurant onsite and I agree with the bus stops being a pain. I also always though we waited longer when we stayed at CBR. I wouldn't NOT stay at CBR if the price was right but I much prefer POFQ if it was going to be a moderate. However with such good deals on SSR and OKW you would be much better staying there. OKW is similar to CBR but much better imo.

The food is not the greatest. But love the theming and being able to relax in a hammock by the lake.

Thanks for the replys another question Is the a bar at night like port Orleans riverside just to relax if back earlier from the parks?

We stayed at the CBR back in 2005 and loved it. The food was ok but we tend to eat in DD anyway. The atmosphere and the surroundings are lovely. It is a very large resort and we were in Trinidad south, which is the furthest from the main building but we quite enjoyed the walk to breakfast early in the morning and were able to catch buses from that stop. I am stating at POR next year and hope it compares to the CBR :-)

CBR was the first Disney hotel we ever stayed at.The bus stopping issue never really bothered us,it may of taken slightly longer (depending on where you get on) but nothing unreasonable IMO.It also depends on the time of year you go if the busses are going to be crowded or not,we went mid October and only stood once after seeing Wishes, which is the case with most resort buses at those times.
The theming is beautiful and tranquil. Each building area has its own quiet pool and you can even sun bathe/relax on the beach. The walk is peaceful and relaxing. If you dont want to be too far from the main building try and request somewhere close by.
The counter service food is pretty much the same as the other resorts, but we mainly ate at the resorts, and from memory i seem to remember a bar outside.

There is a CBR thread on the resort page which could help you http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3032047

stayed there in 2012

Theming is superb. And the beaches with the loungers and hammocks are great.
Pool is very nice with 2 slides (1 kiddie, and 1 slide in the dark) plus 1 in the kid splash zone.

Food court is your average food court, nothing to write home about
The restaurant (shutters) is nice but I wouldn't eat there every night

The resort is very spread out, but there is a shuttle bus between villages.

If you fancy a pirate room you'll be in Trinidad South which is the farthest avay from the main building/pool/food court

the quiet pools are definitely very nice for an evening swim

There are many bus stops, but all in all it won't take much longer than if you were staying at POR, bayou, at the top of the resort. But a car is definitely a good option there

the only important drawback I can see is that the beds are smaller that at other moderates, they're double beds not queens.

We have visited CBR a few times but not actually stayed there. For a mod resort this wouldn't be my first choice (big fan of POR/FQ) but if the price was right I would def not have any hesitations of staying there. Agree it is a big resort and very spread out but that's not a deal breaker for us. The food court isn't as good as POR but its ok, I mean how often are you really going to use it anyway. The most we do is maybe to grab something for breakfast and then at the end of the day maybe a quick snack or drink..
I thought the theming was beautiful, the swimming pool excellent and they have lots of quiet pools as well. I'd def stay if there was no room at POR/FQ. Mush preferred it to CSR.:)

I will be checking in at CBR in a month's time. I know someone who stayed there and had nothing but great things to say about it.

You will find negative reviews about EVERY resort on these threads - at the end of the day it comes down to you and your family and what you want to get out of your holiday. Everyone has different needs and expectations.

I am staying at WDW to have an amazing and magical time with my family. I chose CBR because my boys will love the pirate theming (we have booked a pirate room) and I wanted a bit or tranquility to contrast with the parks.

Things like bus stops and double beds etc will not make or break my holiday. There is so much to it than that - it's about experiencing the magic with those that you love and care about. We will be too busy enjoying ourselves in the parks and at all the other restaurants/places WDW has to offer to worry about minor things like that.

Whatever you decide, have a fantastic time :goodvibes

I agree there are many negative posts regarding SSR buses we have stayed 3 times and never had a problem with buses. X

My experience of CBR was back in 2008 and a lot can change over 5 years but I loved it. We have since stayed at POR and I would choose CBR over POR every single time. We never had any issues with the bus service and found the restaurant area to be perfectly fine (although I would say that POR's is slightly better).

Unless it has changed significantly, I would have no reservations in recommending CBR to anyone.

I love CBR we stay there every trip now, we have visited all the other Disney hotels but always prefer CBR, we love the relaxed feel of the resort after a busy day in the parks it's a lovely place to chill, couple of cocktails at the bar before bed lovely :goodvibes:goodvibes
Food on resort is average and similar to what you find in quite a few resorts, buses have always been good and it really doesn't take long to do all the pick ups.

when we visited the resort that was another thing we liked a lot about it, it really did feel tranquil

:thumbsup2 yes exactly. We normally stay at POR and that also comes under fire for its bus stops and the shared bus at times with POFQ, but it really isn't a big deal. Personally we always ask to stay furthest away in the resort so it is very quiet with nobody running past your room all the time to get to theirs etc..in reality if you time your walk to the main buildings it really isn't very long at all:)

I always base a wdw resort on what feelings it gives me when I visit it. I.e I have never wanted to stay at the GF but really fancy AOA!

When we stayed, we did not think it was that special. It was okay but for the money for a moderate it seemed too much.

When we stayed at POP Century we loved it and thought it was much better.

I think a lot comes down to expectations. I expected much more for a moderate, and that POP I expected so little as it was not expensive.

Funny how things turn out....:confused3

Having stayed at all the moderates id have to say, whilst it looks beautiful, i cant see the reasoning for the extra money that you pay. The bus issue can be a bit of a pain if you are there during a busy period. I would much rather stay at coronado springs than cbr or por/fq
