:confused3 Just trying to decide if we should keep our Savanna view room, or if we should switch to concierge? We were told at MS that there is not a savanna view from the concierge level. So, we're kind of torn. Anyone stayed on concierge level? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Haven't stayed concierge level but researched extensively for our upcoming May trip. There are 5 - 2 BR villas on CL (which, of course can be split out into 5 - 1 BR villas and 5 studios.) 3 have savannah views and 2 have pool views. All are on the 6th floor and have more roof lines of the floors below than "true" views. So while you might end up with a savannah view, it's not going to be as good as savannah view on a lower floor. Book the concierge level for the amenities (lounge, IPO, daily housekeeping, safari, etc.) Based on what I've read, the views are not much to speak of.

I stayed in a concierge 1 bedroom. If view is important to you, I would go with the regular savannah view. The first night we had a pool view, the next day a handicapped savannah view opened up and we moved. It wasn't the greatest savannah view. The main advantage of staying concierge is the sunrise safari. That was the highlight of our trip. Since there are only 5 lockoffs, they can be difficult to get.

We stayed in Concierge for the first part of our July 09 trip -- it was a great experience, as far as the customer service and the food aspect! The view wasn't bad...we liked it...but I know we just lucked out on that. You aren't guaranteed a savanna view.

We were a bit disappointed with the handicapped conversion, but the pros outweighed those cons.

You can check out our pics/TR that we did a dual report with my BFF --

we met up a day later. Even though we only had one day in concierge, it definitely was worthwhile for the service we enjoyed. We didn't have DDP for that day, so the food aspect was awesome! And, we didn't mind moving to our other room the next day. Well, actually, we were sad to go to a "regular" room, even if we had a better view. :upsidedow

Totally agree with this. If view is important to you, stay away from concierge. If pampering and service is more important, you can't beat it. To the OP, I am curious. The concierge rooms tend to sell out almost 11 months in advance. Are you sure there is availability for a switch?

My family and I have stayed in AKV Concierge twice and have reservations for January 2011. Ours was a pool view both times. The service and amenities were great and the Safari was lots of fun. We then stayed at Kidani with a savannna view which with our three year old nephew was priceless. If you have children that love animals I would go with with a guaranteed savanna view, however when it is just my husband and myself we go for the extra pampering. It really is what you prefer. Both are a great experience!

We've had a savannah view once and a pool/really rooftop view the other time. We have one more concierge stay booked, just one night. We like the Wildlife Expedition tour and want to do that again. Neither of us is blown away with how great AK concierge is, but we like it enough to go back every so often.

I like the extra pampering, the turn down service, the snacks, and all of it together is perfect. It just makes the trip so much easier to have it all done for you and never having to worry about anything. the food used to be better but it is still good. I want my soup back !!

We loved it. Hey, you have years of vacations ahead of you. Book the safaris and get a unique experience! We loved the sunset safari. It's pricey, but cheeper if you are staying concierge! We loved the sunrise safari and wildlife discovery excursion as well, btw.

Stayed at AKV twice-- once before AKL was part DVC. We were in a deluxe concierge view on the fifth floor (two queen beds) and it was marvelous. Recently just got back from a concierge 1-bedroom view. We had a savannah view. It wasn't the best view, but we did see all the major animals- giraffes, birds, zebras, etc. We also got a chance to check out Arusha Rock. 50% of the rooms on the DVC concierge floor are savannah view, the other 50% are pool view. It's hit or miss-- no guarantee-- that you will get a savannah view, but you certainly can request. We did, and we were fortunate to get it. The only thing I will say about the concierge savannah view is that it's distant from the savannah- it's a different angle than even the fifth floor. However, we loved our huge balcony and the grass roof that covered it. It was more secluded and peaceful up there.

The concierge staff was awesome. We got all of our dining requests and they made the stay that much more smooth. In the past we did the sunrise safari, and this is a not-to-be-missed experience. I can't say enough good things about AKL concierge.

we stayed CL this past July and were luck enough to get the savannah studio...we were surprised then very pleased with the service...however our CL stay was not our first stay at AKV...at first the most important this was to get a SV so we did that before since it was a guaranteed thing...then we went to CL...so you have to go with what is more important first in my opionion...overall they were both good stays and no matter what you chose I am sure you will be pleased regardless...
