Anyone split stay between Value/Deluxe

We just got back last week from our trip to WDW and i'm already in planning mode for our next We stayed off-site and didn't enjoy it as much and I was thinking about staying on-site again but possibly spliting our stay 3 nights value and 4 nights deluxe. Has anyone done this and do you have any recomendations to do it or not?

We have our reservation made for 2 nights at CSR ( a moderate) and 6 nights at WL(deluxe). I was just curious to read other posters opinions.

That is what I'm going in Nov. And like dessert, I save the best for last! I'm staying 4nts at POR, and 3 nts at WL. The hotel will transfer your luggage, tho it takes most of the day to do it.

I forgot! I'm changing hotels in Apr also. 2nts POP and 5nts Swan.

It might be harder it you have young children, but it's a great way to save money and experience 2 hotels.

We did it a couple of years ago with three kids. We spend one week at Movies, then one week at the Contemporary. We wanted to stay for two weeks, but could not afford to do it unless we split our stay. We moved our own luggage(we had a rental van), that way we weren't waiting for our luggage to catch up to us. We got in early at the Contemporary, then headed back out to the parks. I would do it again in a heartbeat if it were the only way I could stay on Disney property longer.

My DD (12) & I just did 3 nts. @ POP, followed by 3 nts. ea. @ VWL & BWV - we had a blast! We've split our stays almost every time on our last 10 trips between moderates & deluxes. This is the first time we've ever stayed @ a value, but we thoroughly enjoyed POP. We had Disney move our luggage each time & only had to wait an hour or so for it while at VWL. We have too many favorite resorts to choose only 1 to stay at each time we visit!

we do this all the time....the only suggestion I have is to stay at the value first and then move to the deluxe...if you do it in the opposite manner, you may feel let down by the value as compared to the deluxe....

Oh yes, I always feel you stay at your favorite place last, ie, the deluxe. Doing it in reverse wouldn't make much sense, and i'm sure you'd feel let down.

yes, we've done All Stars Music and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its great. I agree - do the value first. Especially if it is a long trip - you may be able to relax and enjoy the deluxe if you have already done a lot. The deluxes have a lot of activities and nice restaurants and it can be the vacation you need after the commando parks schedule. But if you are just going sleep at the hotel, you can add more days by just continuing your trip at the Value resorts for the same money.

We have combined stays often (actually may be our preferred method going forward). Two stays ago (last August) we stayed at GF and moved to AS Movies. We did not feel "let down" by the AS Movies, just a really different atmosphere. We did not care for GF and will not be staying there again. Nothing wrong with the service or the room, we just didn't like the atmosphere. So far, the GF and Boardwalk are the only resort we have felt that way about. I would choose Poly on mono-rail line and Beach Club or Swan at Epcot.
I think it is fun to try all the resorts, we have not stayed at POP Century, Yacht Club, nor DVC offerings yet.

We did 4 nights at Contemporary and 6 nights at CBR for our honeymoon in May of 2004 and it was great. We have decided to go this Sept and stay 5 nights at WL and 5 nights at POFQ with hopes we could get some great AP rates

I have stayed offsite for a few days then checked in onsite and have had wonderful stays. I will usually do 2 or 3 days offsite and hit the parks sort of commando those days limiting the amount of time I am in my hotel room. Then when I check in onsite, I do tend to spend more time at the resort enjoying the pool and sit down restaurants, etc. with half days at the parks. You'll have a great time and get to enjoy two different experiences.

Actually, earlier this evening, I changed our ressies from 7 nites AKL to the first 2 nites at ASMO and then on to AKL for 5 nites. This is our first trip and I so wanted to stay at both, so I decided what the heck! I am happy with my decision and am so looking forward to our stay at both resorts. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old and I can not wait to see the expressions on their little faces when they see the big Buzz and other icons at ASMO. Priceless!

WE did this in jan. with Pop and AKL. I also recommend doing the deluxe resort last. It's cool because it's like a vacation in a vacation. I get really bummed when I think about leaving WDW, but by splitting your stay, you have something else to look forward to.

Just rent vacation club points from a DVC member on the DVC rent/trade board and then you can stay at: Old Key West, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, or Saratoga Springs (New) for the same price as a value hotel. Just look at the DVC point charts to see how many points you need for the time of year and resort. Just a side note: Sunday through Thursday uses considerable less points. So if you could avoid Fri/Sat. stay you'd save even more.

We made the mistake of having split our last vacation - AKL first, then POR. Now, POR was nice, but quite a letdown after a savannah view room at AKL, LOL!

This time, we're doing PC for 5 nights, then AKL for 6 nights.

I'm looking forward to trying it out for the first time in April. We're staying 2 nights @ Poly and 3 nights @ POFQ. The day we transfer will be a resort/pool day and we have our own car to transfer when we want to.

I wanted to stay @ Poly for 4 nights but the BBY rate was not available so my DW said lets add a night and move to POFQ - the BBY rate is $105/night (tax included)

I'm glad to hear that this works well. We'll be splitting our stay in May. First five nights will be in POR, then off to Yacht Club for 2 nights.

I figured that we'll be done with the parks by the time we stay at Yacht Club, so we can enjoy the resort and the boardwalk for the last 2 days.

The only downfall is that we'll be going from 2 connecting rooms at POR, to 1 room at YC. (2 adults, 3 kids). I guess we'll be enjoying the balcony after the kids go to bed!

My only dilemma is this, we will have a rental car, so should be transfer our luggage, or have it transferred? We will be heading off to EE on the transfer day, so I thought it would be better to have Disney transfer our stuff.

This sounds like a really cool idea, although I don't think my hubby would go for it!! He doesn't even like to park hop!!??!! Help me convince him for our next trip when we bring our daughters back (May 2005, oldest daughter will turn ! 16 !). Let's see . . a couple nights at Riverside, which we ALL love, then a couple at a deluxe, the girls are dying to stay at a deluxe resort, WL or the Poly!! Sounds GREAT to me!! HELP!!

Hubby and I will be checking out the WL for them this May, ALONE!! :

We are doing this in June. We are arriving at GF on my birthday and staying for 2 nts. We then check into FWC for a 3 nt stay. We like the deluxe resorts, but there are only so many $100+ meals our budget can handle. Our 3 kids have no idea that they are staying onsite so we are going with the WOW factor first.

I prefer to pack up the bags the night before so they are ready to be put in the car (van) first thing in the morning and transport them myself. But that's just me. I've never had Disney move my bags, so I have no experience there.

For which park will you be doing EE? You could drive early to the YC, leave the bags in the car and go to the park from there. If Epcot or Studios you could either walk or hop the boat. If MK or AK take the bus from YC. Late morning/early afternoon you could head back to the YC to check in and take bags to the room.
