Anyone so fed up with airline prices that you are actually considering driving?

A lot of people who post on internet discussion groups think their way of doing things is the only way or best way.
But... but... but... my way IS the only way!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Interesting. I have never worked anywhere where you can't take the vacation as cash when you leave. Isn't it illegal to keep it as it is earned income? I would be surprised if an employer can keep the cash as the employee already earned it. I would look into that.

I don't think one way is better than another. That has never been my position. My position is solely that the cost analysis is more than just gas and tolls. There are other costs involved including vacation days, wear and tear on the auto, etc. Still might decide to drive or fly or whatever but the math is a bit more complicated than just gas, tolls and hotel.

Have a safe drive

Policy regarding banking vacation days and possibly paying employees who don't take vacations is a function of their employment contract (possibly union) and possibly their state's labor laws. There are companies that have a use it or lose it policy regarding vacations.

A person who has well maintained car, who isn't in danger of going over allowable lease miles, only has to be concerned with the variable costs of driving. Those costs are primarily gas and tolls. Mfgs typically suggest an oil change every 5-10K miles. A person who's driving 2K miles (R/T) might want to include half the cost of an oil change in their figures.

Well...as much as I hated to do it at this time...I bit the bullet last night and paid for my airfare for our trip this summer! I basically paid about the same amount that I normally pay for us three, only I had to use 40,000 mile to boot!:headache:

I really messed up this year! My airfare strategy did not work in my favor this time!:sad2:

Time to move on! I've got to let it go!:rotfl:I now have plane tickets and I'm going to Disney!:cool1::yay:

I think the distinction is if you have had paid vacation days or not. If you just get time off then the company in the end knows you nothing. But if it is PTO you've already earned than you need to be paid.
