Anyone shop at Goodwill?

I go to Stuff, Etc. (a consignment shop chain in eastern Iowa) at LEAST once a week. I love it! Everything is so cheap, and ours usually has nice furniture and brand name clothing. DFi (who has a degree in finance and is a HARDCORE budgeter) used to give me a hard time about going there so much, until I drug him there about a week ago.. it was like a little kid in a candy shop. He was running all over the store pointing out all the cheap stuff.

It's sad, I know, but we look for Goodwills every time we go on vacation. It's so interesting to see how different areas have their stores set up. We went to Grayton Beach last summer and found all of our souvenier(sp?) tshirts (didn't even look used - may have been another store's last-season leftovers) at the local Goodwill plus I came home with a sack of books. lol

Yep, we do Goodwill on occassion but in our neck o the woods VOA/The Salvation Army Thrift shop is much better - lots more items and better prices.

I bought my son crutches there for $2.04 last week when he broke his leg.

I have donated to our local Goodwill several times, and have shopped there a few times too but it's been awhile. I actually haven't gotten myself any new clothes in over a year, so I'm thinking maybe a trip to Goodwill after Christmas and see if I can find some new jeans and tops.

I think they're fun to shop in because they're getting new and different stuff all the time. If you can't find what you want one week, come back the next and you just might find it. :)

We used to have a children's clothing store (plus they sold walkers, high chairs, etc. as well) here called "The Growing Tree" and I went there several times to buy clothes for my grandchildren. Everything was gently used, and such good prices. Last time I went, the store was gone! :sad1: I have no idea what happened. It was always busy with people buying and people bringing in stuff every time I was there. I miss that store a lot.

I absolutely love Goodwill and the Salvation Army! And I have like minded friends. When we went to Cape Cod on a three day vacation, we had a map showing every Goodwill and Salvation Army store on the Cape, along with a number of thrift stores. And we made sure to visit all of them.

I have had some great finds. And rarely pay very much for my clothes!

If any of you are ever vacationing in the Vero Beach area, make sure you check out the thrift stores there.. Awesome high-end designer clothing at ridiculously low prices.. My brother's GF took my sister and I to all of them when we were visiting and I have to admit I went on a bit of a buying frenzy.. LOL.. I can't remember the names of them, but I know one was to support the local animal shelter..:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 There's one in Port St Lucie too that supports an animal cause. They might be owned by the same charity since Vero and PSL are so close to each other.

Shopping at Goodwill not only offers great finds, it offers you a chance to give back to your local communities--84 percent of revenues go to support local job training and employment placement programs for people with disabilities and other obstacles to employment. Learn more about what Goodwill does with its revenue on its web site.

I :lovestruc Goodwill! As a woman who was "gifted" with curves, I would have to shop at a really expensive place to find clothes that fit me. I can take $25 and come out with a bag full of great high-end clothes!

I've also found stuff for our house and even a baby's crib in perfect condition! (Not ready to buy one yet though)

Ya'll are lucky to find a good Goodwill. The one closest to me rarely has clothes that I would even consider buying. The only thing that I get there is books.

I :lovestruc my goodwill & salvation army. I haven't been in the SA in a while but over Christmas break I plan on stopping in. I go to Goodwill at least once a week. I have gotten lots of books, clothes, and Christmas things there.

LOVE LOVE the GOODWILL an other thrift stores my best recent find was a black leather full length coat with zip out lining for 2.00....It was 25.00 I bought it on hakf price day an had a full goodwill card good for 10.00 off a purchase.

Last year I walked away with a very nice faux fur coat that when I looked it up was selling for over 300.00 I got it for 1.00 cause it was spring an good will was selling all winter coats for 1.00

Been doing the goodwill shoppin me whole life very very rarely do I buy anything in a store that sells new stuff.

Ok, you all have me convinced I need to stop in a Goodwill store. I have a newer one not even 3 minutes from my home. I will stop in a take a look later this week.

Aww Dancingbear I wasn't trying to correct you, I thought you knew about a store that I didn't know about LOL! Cool that we've both been there!

I bought my DH some stuff for Christmas at both Goodwill and SA. He couldn't care less that the items are used, he's just happy I saved money!
