I had downloaded a beautiful picture of Cinderella's Castle at night It had pointsettas in front of it and the statue of Walt & Mickey. The castle ws illuminated and the statue of Walt/Mickey had a spotlight on it. Other than that, there was a man with a tripod (hardly visible in the foreground of the shot) I posted here because it doesn't look like a picture just anyone could take...it was more professional. Does anyone have a similar picture or do you know of a thread that may have it? Thanks.

:worship: :worship: YES!!! YES!!! That's the one! I love this picture!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this thread and post the picture.:goodvibes Now I am going to save it to my pictures and then stretch it and apply it to my desktop!!! You have made my day!:cloud9:

I hope people ask permission before just taking photos and using them for any reason. I'm assuming barrie implicitly gave you permission but it is barrie's copyrighted photo and permission needs to be asked.

No, I did not receive implicit permission to use this photograph. I do consider the fact that I requested the picture, stated the purpose of its use and was then shown the picture that implied permission was given. I always thought that copyrighted pictures had the photographer's imprint across them. If I did something wrong, my apologies.

Donald & Daisy Duck - It's absolutely fine for you to use my photo as wallpaper on your desktop. I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't want you to use it. I just assumed saying you're welcome was enough.

SharonLowe - Thanks for having my back.

Honestly though - I don't mind anyone using any of my Disney photos for personal use. I take them for fun and share them freely with anyone who wants them. It's always a kick for me when I hear that someone likes them enough to want to use them - that's part of the fun for me.

barrie,

What type of camera and what settings did you use for this picture? Tripod? It is gorgeous!!

Well, thanks again to you and the other photographers on the Dis. Without people like you, people like me wouldn't have such wonderful desktop backgrounds!

Your talents are appreciated.

that is a common misconception that most people have.

copyright law states that the photo is copyrighted the moment the shutter is tripped, the photographer doesn't have to be a professional either.. if a 3 year old picks up a camera and takes a picture, it's copyrighted..

photographers place a watermark, or copyright on the face of photos to discourage people from taking them, it also adds teeth to a lawsuit, if filed.. and removal of the watermark is another penalty or crime..

it is always best to ask permission, especially since the penalty for copyright infringement can be as high as $50,000 per picture, per infringement..:

many of the photogs on this board will gladly give permission, as well as sharing the full size file, some will not..:thumbsup2

same as my sig.

As polite as it is to share it is also as polite to ask permission to use a photo or other creative works.

Thanks! I was totally unaware that this could be a problem and will make sure that I ask permission anytime I want to copy a picture from here (or anywhere else). I guess it's true, you learn something new everyday! Again, thanks for sharing your talent with those of us that appreciate beautiful photographs, but that can't seem to take a picture without it coming out crooked.

You can't do that.......until I am done with it!!!!

I also use it for my desktop.

This is not actually true.

Using a pic from the web as your desktop would be covered under fair use and would not need any permission.

Great pic, BTW.

to the best of my knowledge that does not fall under fair use..

How do you figure? Whether a particular use of a copyrighted work constitutes fair use can be a complex issue. The fact that the use is personal and not commercial in nature is no guarantee that it would be considered fair use.
