I know that Humpback Whales winter in the warm waters of the Carribean and that dolphins like to surf the bow waves on boats and ships. I was wondering if anyone has seen Whales or Dolphins while the ship was underway?
We were on the seven day eastern in June and while my DH and DD's were off playing, I was just relaxing on our verandah. I was sitting just watching the waves when I saw some splashing off in the distance. I got up to look over the side and a few minutes later a dolphin swam right by the ship. I was so excited, but disappointed that DH and DD's missed it. I didn't see anymore after that.
Going on the Western October 9th 2004. Can't wait!!!!
They're not playing as much as waiting for a quick feed.
Watch off the rear of the ship as she pulls out of port - when it stirs up the bottom of the channel, the dolphins go to work big time in the wake feeding.
Dolphins and sea turtles. Never saw a whale, though.
and... After disembarkation, if you're still near the port when the ship takes off for the next voyage, stick around at the shore and you can see dolphins in front of the ship as well as it is exiting the port - we got great video of it after our last cruise.
I'll just hope we get the opportunity to see some dolphins and other sea life when we cruise in Jan 2004. Even if we don't see any, I'll enjoy just gazing out to sea.....
