Anyone see this video on youtube?

If someone is in a rush AND has the sense to ask forgiveness and to be excused, I'm all for standing aside and let them pass. Maybe they have a sick child to get to or a coveted ADR--or maybe they need to get out of the crowd before they blow a fuse. But I swear if someone (even a sweet little old lady) BEEPED+BEEPED+BEEPED me, I'd be tempted to stop dead in my tracks and give her the evil eye <:rotfl2:
That's it though, no one has ever said to me "sorry, I'm in a rush, do you mind if I go ahead?", it's always a curt "excuse me", as if I'm standing in the middle of an otherwise open walkway blocking the way. :confused3

I would definitely let someone pass if they had a good reason. I do that at airport security when someone's flight is leaving really soon, but I haven't run across that in a crowd at Disney yet. :)

I'd like to think the horn was broken (though I know it's not), just as I like to think the kids that scream on the airplane, or in the restraunts are broken lol.

this woman is a great example of why so many people hate ecv's at wdw. i wish a cast member had seen her and attempted to "help" her with her issues.

Thanks! for sharing...I had to share with fellow Disfriends...we happened to mention someone on a scooter rollling over someones foot and right before we left for our trip a non disfriend warned us about the same!!

all I could give it is a shrug of the shoulders and a shake of the head :confused3

I watched the video and just want to weigh in on the other side of the coin...'cause you know someone has too. I've been to WDW with both of my parents using an ECV and if you think it's inconvenient for you having to dodge them, it's like 1000 times more difficult for them having to deal with people who act like they don't even notice them coming.

Before I get jumped on, we met loads and loads of kind people and CMs who were all working together to keep everyone's enjoyment level up. For the most part, everyone was really accomodating. However, and this is a huge however, there were so many cases of people thinking ECVs stop quickly (there are no brakes, just a release from the "gas") or ignoring them totally. I put those people in the same category as folks who push kids aside at SpectroMagic or throw a fit with a CM, saying, "Do you know how much I paid for this vacation?" because they couldn't squeeze five more people into their dining reservation.

At one point on our most recent trip, my mom was in tears because she was so stressed out about people giving her a heart attack by walking right in front of her. Thankfully none of them were children - all adults. She would sometimes use a horn just to let folks know she was coming because ECVs are really quiet. When in a crowd, she, invariably would get separated from us as she would stop to give others the right of walk and ultimately get enveloped in a crowd and kind of be stuck.

Yeah, this older gal definitely had a puss on her face, but I'm wondering if she was at the end of a frustrating day and just wanted to make sure no one got hurt. WDW is such a magical place and I'm so happy my parents could go despite their disabilities, but navigating via ECV is tough even with all of the accessibility. It kind of breaks my heart when I hear people talk about how ECVs shouldn't be allowed and ruin Disney World.

With it all said, I'm sure some folks use them that don't need them, are horribly rude with them, are wreckless with them, etc. I'm just not sure I think this woman was being any of those things.

ms_missy - i totally get and respect your perspective on this subject and am definitely not attacking you. just adding to the subject that i actually have had 1st hand experience using an ecv at the parks because of some back issues that i have. using an ecv really is a stressful and degrading process at wdw because of those randoms who do cut you off or think you are just being lazy, etc. that being said, i would still never continue to plow through the crowds blowing my horn. if it is that much of a challenge, she would have been better off to wait for the crowds to thin out and then attempt to leave.

Totally valid point and I don't feel attacked at all. In hindsight with my parents, I thought to myself, "we should have just waited." :-)

I hope your back is treating you better. I've been there and it's awful.

That's pretty funny. I also like the one that pops up next to it of Pluto chasing the little boy who kicked him in the groin. I bet he lost his job that day.

I don't get some of the comments left on you tube itself.. what does her weight have to do with the fact that she's kinda rude??

Now that I have seen this video I feel my bloodpressure rising!!
