I don't get why the passenger that brought on the rotted meat was accommadated witha flight on another airline. If I was on the plane I would like to punch them for wasting the time of everybody else.

I would have been completely hysterical if maggots had dropped out of the overhead compartment on me. The rotting meat must have stunk. Why didn't the TSA pick up on it when the person went through screening? Don't even try to bring a 4.5 oz. tube of toothpaste on board, but rancid meat and it's friends are welcome. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. If this passenger doesn't have serious mental health problems, he/she should face some legal consequences for all the inconvenience caused to the airline and other passengers.

The passenger quoted in the story is a former News Anchor with a local TV station in Syracuse. Of all people for this to happen to and to witness, US Airways is going to get a lot of pressure.

It's unfortunate many people don't think of others when they pack. I had one person decide to bring flowers on the plane, in a vase, with water and proceed to stick it in the overhead compartment. Needless to say, when the plane took off, the vase tipped and the water spilled out, dripping out of the over head bins onto a few rows of passengers.

Personal maggot story, not too gross. While living in Miami, one day I put my dog's canned wet dog food in a dish outside on the patio. She ate some of it. I noticed she didn't eat the rest, so I fed her other stuff inside the house. I was not paying attention to the stuff outside, and when I looked again, the thing was crawling with maggots. I fed the dog her food indoors from then on.

I didn't want to handle the yucky dog dish as it was, so I found some powdered copper polish (for bottoms of pots) underneath the sink. I sprinkled it generously, all over the bowl, to kill the maggots and dry up the moisture of the dog food. When I looked again later that evening, the dish was licked clean, presumably by my dog! Guess the copper powder made it delish!
