I saw them coming east on I-4 and saw where I-4 was closed and them coming out of WDW. I was lucky heading to Epcot I was not stopped, not sure how many there were but thousands I'm sure.

I didn't see it, but I know people staying down by Disney who were trying to go on I-4 East and were delayed for close to an hour because of this.

Thousands coming out of wdw!!! I wonder what the heck that is about?? I hope someone chimes in.

I wondered how long it was closed, I saw nothing but bikes on i-4 for 10 minuets while heading the other way. They had the hwy stopped at the Marriott area and once inside WDW some of that was blocked off. It was a sea of bikes. It almost looked as if they might have been coming from DTD. Lots of people must have been inconvenienced by that and personally I could not participate in something like that knowing how many would be, just they way I am.

My initial thought with this thread was that it was a charity ride, motorcycle groups do them all the time Good for them :thumbsup2 slight inconvenience no big deal for good causes

I hear ya and it's a good cause, but it was more than a slight inconvenience. I participate in charity as well, giving and collecting money, no need to close a major road and area down on a Sunday afternoon. Just write a check. Also the marathon was going on. Just my opinion of course.

Agreed. Having a police escort is one thing, but completely shutting down I-4 for an hour is beyond a "slight inconvenience".

Its been shut down before for politicians, that I find more annoying But to each his/her own ...right ? ;)

I'm a biker, and that was most likely a poker run or ride, to raise money for a charity.

I hope everyone does not mind the inconvenience as we do many runs to raise money for great charities, most of which are for children with cancer, disabilities, etc.

Its a minor inconvenience compared to what the children who are recipients of those charities, have to deal with.

I don't think anyone would argue that. But you didn't see what I and others saw. Just write a check.

:thumbsup2 my point EXACTLY and thank you and your friends for what you do I was very used to it in NY on the Long Island Expressway We LOVE what you all do

Our bus from the marathon was stopped by them for over 20 minutes trying to get back to POR. What should have been a 10 minute ride turned into 30. Imagine 40+ people cramped in a bus with legs hurting having to wait. Not too many happy people.

Not sure whose bright idea that was on a day when many Disney roads were already closed due to the marathon.

Our family rides, so we would have love to have seen that. BACA does a lot of worthy work. It's more then just "cut a check"

I didn't need to be there to see it.

In my area, Northwest Florida, we did Toys for Tots in December and traffic was blocked off by the police for miles as 1500 bikes rode.

We raised lots of toys for children who wouldn't get any otherwise, and we raised thousands of dollars for the Children's Advocacy Center.

I agree...just write a check.

I have to say I'm all for charity and the bikers having their ride. BUT to do this on the same day as the WDW Marathon was awful, imo. Friends of mine who had finished got stuck for at least a 1/2 an hour.

In addition DTD area had no signs that I could see so I got stuck for 1/2 an hour. At least with WDW Marathon there were signs every where to expect delays.

Again, I am not against charity rides, but this was terrible to do on the same day.

My thoughts exactly. Yesterday was not the day that this should be allowed anywhere near Disney property. The fact that it started at DD and had a police escort leads me to believe that Disney would had to have known about it. Someone smarter than me should have said that January 12 was just not a good day for this, and would it be possible to choose one of the other 50 Sundays of the year.

With roads being closed for the marathon and extra traffic all around property because of this, yesterday was not the day for 1000 motorcycles to tie up traffic anymore right when the bulk of runners, families, etc were trying to get back to resorts or leave the property.

Time for the complainers in this thread to put up or shut up. I assume you'll all be posting back that your check is in the mail.

OK - I get that it was on the marathon day. And the marathon runners get my full support for doing what they do. I've been to Disney World during the marathon and have had grandkids participate in the kids runs. Been around the area with road closures. I understand all that.

But if the runners were in a bus for a half hour delay after the marathon (and yes, I understand about cramping, etc. and how tired they were), what about those kids who were helped by this ride by the bikers? They don't get to participate in a marathon or go to Disney World. Some of them might not even get to sit on a bus.

My opinion and I might get a sanction from the boards but the marathoners ran to benefit themselves which is great. The bikers rode to benefit kids they will probably never meet. I'd give a half hour for that.
