I saw this for the first time over the weekend. I'm not usually the type that is easily shocked, but this one really got to me. This poor guy has been gone for 12 years now, and David Spade was 'supposed' to be his very good friend. Watching the commercial, and seeing Spade refer to Farley as "tons of fun" made me a bit uneasy.

If you haven't seen it, it's a scene from the movie Tommy Boy.

I saw it and it bothered me. David Spade has always seemed creepy and slimey to me, I never cared for thim. I think poor Chris is being used and I don't like it.

{shrug} The Farley Family approved of it:

I'm sure they are giving any $$$ to Chris's estate. I don't want to believe it's David Spade stealing from him. I think it's just a way to help the Farley family. I hope anyway.
But yes the first time I saw it - it shocked me. And then I watched a couple Chris Farley skits on youtube. (like GapGirl:rotfl2:) he was so funny.

Shocked me at first too...saw it for the first time last night. Glad the family approved (I tend to think Chris would have too).

I really didnt see anything wrong with it. We have seen dead celebrities with today's celebrities before. David Spade was very close to Chris Farley, so if he was ok with it, I didnt see anything wrong with it. To be honest, it made me pull out my Tommy Boy DVD and watch it. "Fat guy in a little coat":happytv:

They are doing that with a lot of movie clips, where they are getting the actor to "re-do" the scene.

and Spade's character referes to the "tommy boy" as tons of fun, and other similar things in the movie.

I saw no disrespect, and as another poster said, it makes me wnt to watch the movie again.

("dead" deer in the back seat!)

"NO WAY THAT JUST HAPPENED!!!"

I was alittle bit uncomfortable by it, but then when I watched it again, I noticed that at the very end David Spade says "It never gets old" and to me that shows how much he loved Chris Farley's comedy. When you watch that scene that what you are thinking... Fat Guy in alittle coat skit never gets old, and you have to laugh

I, too, felt uncomfortable with it, until David made the comment at the end. Then I thought it was great! ;)

Agreed I see no problem with it whatsoever, especially is Farley's family approved it. Richard (DS's character) called Tommy Tons of fun in the movie, so it makes sense. My husband and I actually really like the commercial as, we love that movie and miss Chris Farley.

After reading the other responses I feel better, knowing his family approved it. I also hope they benefit from it.

I thought it was great. I was a huge fan and miss seeing him :)
