Anyone see the BCV Alligator?

Our first day at BC my kids saw her in June, she came up and grabbed something off the rocks..I asked the kids what it was she grabbed but they weren't really sure (they're only 5, 3 and 2) so I screamed at all three of them "What are you blind and stupid?!?!?" I felt it was a good way to get the Disney vacation off on to great start.
(my wife is now forcing me to write that I did no such thing and reassure all of you that I was just kidding, I said that you knew that...... but since I don't really feel like sleeping on the sofa tonight....)

We saw her in Nov. of 2002 and then again this November (1 - 9).
Everytime we saw her she was in the water under the walkway and she really seemed to be waiting for people to feed her. :D

We have seen Disney Animal Control people feeding the Villagator raw chicken parts.

We have also seen an alligator in the water surrounding Tom Sawyer's Island. They were lounging in the water near the boardwalkway just about opposite from the Diamond Horseshoe. In the area where all the birds divebomb the people eating food.

I saw the Alligator about two weeks ago when I was down there. My friend and I always looked at the turtles when we walked by the bridge. Well one day we went to the hotel of one of our friends and what a surprise we had when we came back. I remember reading about it before but I must have forgotten. It was quite a sight to see. I was never that close to an Alligator. We told our wifes to come check it out but it left before we got back.

Yes! I love the gator!

I have video of him trying to bite the two turtles. Anyone know how I can get the video from my camcorder onto the internet? It's a hilarious video (no one was harmed during the filming of the video!).

I also have video of some idiot feeding the gator. This was back in May.

We were there last February and didn't see the gator. I thought is was an urban legend for a while. We will have another chance in about 4 weeks.

HBC

Saw the gator every day last October including one day it was out on the bank on the parking lot side nearest the bridge to the main entrance. Seemed to be just enjoying a nice sun bathing experience. This year only saw it one day but was really surprised by how much it has grown in one year.

Seems very dangerous with small kids around and the sidewalk right along the waterway.

As long as no person has ever feed the gator he will not let you get close to him as they are very affraid of people. However, is a person has feed them they are dangerous and have to be dealt with.

As far as what he/she eats. Birds and fish. Hopefully NOT raw chicken from the Animal people at disney.

We saw him daily last November. When sitting on our balcony, it was a riot to watch people walking on the sidewalk and see them looking in the canal and notice the gator just sitting there. We saw lots of women screetching, grabbing their kids and running away while the hubbies just laughed and pointed. Then there were the people who were very preoccupied and wouldn't look. It was hard to keep my kids from yelling down "hey, look in the water!" lol.

I hope the gator is allowed to stay, no matter how large he gets.

Here are a couple of photos of the BCV gator that I took in December 2002 (during DIScon II):

When we saw her in Sept the gator was with the turtles trying to get food that was tossed into the water from the guests. The gator did not bother the turtles s she must be well fed. I have some great pictures of the gator and one of the turtles but I don't know how to put them in my reply.
:( :( :(

Just back last night from a 6 night stay at BCV and did not see Mr. Al E-Gator once! We saw more than one turtle, however.

I would assume that Disney feeds Ali just to keep her from coming out further for food. As long as she has a full tummy, she doesn't need to go for birds, kids, or DVC guides!

Saw her night before last right at the walkway area that leads to the self-parking at BCV. Only could see her head in the dark so it was hard to tell how long she is now.

First time for me to see her in person.

Disneyfan,

What does he look like, lol? I have him "caught on tape!" I was there in mid-May. !! :)

Hey Melrosgirl -

DH is about 5'9 with Red Hair. We were there Memorial week. I told him about the tape, he doesn't think any of this is funny. I have laughed and laughed but he just doesn't see the humor in it!!!!
