Anyone ride the "forbidden" rides when pregnant?

I rode all the rides at WDW unknowingly when I was 8-10 weeks pregnant including coasters at IOA and seaworld. I didn't think I could get pregnant and the trip wAs to cheer me up. I didn't know I was pregnant until I got home ! I was very lucky that DD is alive and well. If I had known I was pregnant I wouldn't have taken the risk it's really not worth it, DD is my only child and to think I could have lost her by going on a ride breaks my heart. I think someone was looking out for me..OP whatever you decide I hope you have a good time and an easy pregnancy.

So did I, but I was only 5-6 weeks along. I had no idea as I was young and it was my first child. Thankfully, that was a great many years ago before HS and AK opened so none of those rides included.

However, had I known, I would err on the side of caution. Not a ride on earth worth the risk.

I miscarried in Disney. I didn't ride anything I wasn't supposed to be on but the Safari. I am nit sure it had anything to do with it. I was a little over 12wkd when we went. I got really dizzy our last day. Had another US when we returned and no HB at 13.5wks. Not sure what happened but I felt so guilty I even went. Please be careful. Rides can wait.

Please don't blame yourself. You didn't CAUSE the miscarriage. It's a heartbreaking reality that 1/4 of pregnancies end in miscarriage, and even after you're out of 1st tri, women still go on to have late losses.

Not worth the risk.

:thumbsup2 This is the way I feel also. My pregnancies were worth far more to me than missing any rides at Disney or anywhere else. :confused3

If something had happened after riding some forbidden rides, I would have always blamed myself, although you would probably never know the true cause.

Personally I would go with your doctors advice. If, God forbid, something did go wrong would you really want all those "what ifs" running through your head? My son was born with a rare condition and even though I followed all the rules while pregnant I can't say there wasn't a period when I thought of the most random things and wondered "could that have caused it?"

It's Disney, I am sure there is plenty to ride and fun to be had even if you do have to skip some of the rides.

I've also had a miscarriage (14 weeks) and after going through that, I became very over-cautious. So, I wouldn't.... but that's your (and your OB's) decision. During my last pregnancy, I had a placental abruption and ended up on bedrest for six months. Healthy baby and mom are totally worth a few months of missing out on things. :)

The warnings on the likes of splash mountain aren't because there is any major danger of the ride itself- its because if it had to do an emergency stop it will stop with one hell of a jolt. There are probably other reasons but that is what I was told. That kind of impact in pregnancy can cause serious problems, including placental abruption which can result in the death of the baby and yourself. I had an abruption with my first baby and it was the most terrifying thing me and my husband have ever been through. The rides will still be there next time you go, I wouldn't personally risk it.

I was so relaxed during my pregnancy and did a lot of the things you aren't supposed to (pumpkin spice latte with an extra shot of espresso! shock! horror!).

However, we went to Disney World while I was 25 weeks and I followed the signs without a second thought. I'm sure it would have been fine, but I would have never forgiven myself if something did happen and it would forever tarnish Disney World for me because I would always be reminded of it.

My wife rode the old Jimmy Neutron ride at Universal 13 times over 3 days. We didnt know she was pregnant. The kid seems to be doing ok for the most part.

I wouldn't risk the coasters.. I thought there was something about big drops that was also a no-no (maybe that's why Splash Mountain is listed)? I can't say for certain I Just feel like I've heard that somewhere.

You'd probably be fine if everything went like it's supposed to, but if the ride makes an emergency stop, it can stop really HARD. As in, people sometimes get injured because the rides have to stop so quickly. And if regular, non-pregnant people get hurt by the jarring motion, then it wouldn't be good for a pregnant lady.

Personally, Safari would be in my comfort zone since it is just a bumpy ride. Your doctor wouldn't want you to travel at all if that was off limits. And you won't have to do that kind of hard stop since it's a regular car and can see what's up ahead.

It's really, really common to miscarry any time up to and including the 12 week mark. My midwife told me they think it's as high as 1 in 3 women, when you count in all those women who never even realize they were pregnant in the first place and think they're just having a heavy, late period. Some people even suggest you shouldn't tell anyone you're pregnant until you're in your second trimester, when it's getting hard to hide.

I had a scare at 12 weeks, myself, with my second child.

So I'm sure it's absolutely nothing you did. Sometimes these things just happen. Even to women who never go anywhere or do anything at all. And, by and large, being active and getting out is always better for your health.

I actually helped push a stranger's car out of a ditch when I was 7 months pregnant with my first. I was wearing a big coat so the guy didn't notice, until after his car was out. Then he nearly had a heart attack.

But I felt fine!

I told him, "I'm pregnant, not sick!" Used to drive me nuts when people would try to forbid me from doing things.

Of course, being overprotected wasn't an issue in my second pregnancy, when my first was barely a year old. Society won't let a pregnant lady carry groceries, but a toddler? That's her job! At least, it was until we had a scare at the end of my first trimester. Then I had to figure out how to take care of a toddler without being allowed to pick her up. :headache:

I agree... Taught 16 dance classes a week during my pregnancy with my daughter. Then had 3 m/c on bedrest pretty much. OP-After having going through a m/c I would not ride the rides. Its not worth it. If something happened you will blame yourself. Stay hydrated and hopefully by the time you go you can enjoy eating for 2:)

huhwhat said:
so your Dr said no and you;d thought you'd ask the opinions of users of a Disney forum....interesting

I agree. At this point, it would be best to tell the OP proceed at your own risk if you go ignoring your own doctor's advice.

If you are searching for the answer you wanted to hear, then you have already answered your own question.

Pregnancy or Rides.... I will take the Pregnancy.. as some have said Rides can wait.. That Pregnancy cannot wait.. and the signs are there for more than just a law suit. The rides may cause something to happen and Disney will not be responsible if it does... and that may cause is not worth the risk of any pregnancy in my opinion... if you have never miscarried you may not understand this...:sad1:
