I was just doing "rock, paper, scissors" with my girls and then I was trying to teach them a couple of other kids' rhymes we used to do when I was little to decide who was "it".

I was doing "One potato, two potato, three potato, four, five potato, six potato, seven potato, more" is that it to that one?

Then I was telling them we also used to do "My mother and your mother were hanging out some clothes, my mother punched your mother right in the nose, what color was her blood? Red, R-E-D, Red".

Then there was ""Eenie, meenie, minie, moe"

With all of those, you put your fists out and the last one standing was 'it'. Did I say them right?

Do you remember any other kids' rhymes to decide whose 'it'?

I know they may not be PC anymore; it was just fun trying to remember them!!! Memory lane and all...

Bubble gum, bubble gum
in a dish.
How many pieces

(pick a number)
5-f-i-v-e spells 5 and you are it!

How funny, just the other day I was showing my boys the "Eenie, meenie..." one. And as I was saying it, I was thinking, this makes no sense at all?! LOL I guess as a kid I just didn't think about it, but now I'm like, tigers don't have toes! Who made this up anyway? ;)

It's fun how having kids brings out the carefree, silly kid in you again. :):):):)

In some parts of the country (and in a different era too) , people did not use "tigers" in that rhyme, but the "N" word instead! Pretty bad!

I remember as a kid chanting to the person that got tagged "It" during Tag:

"______'s it!

Counterfeit!

He's a German Idiot!"

Why "German" was used I have no clue. Perhaps the rhyme came out of WW II or something! Not very PC!

I can't believe that noone mentioned this one....

Mickey Mouse,
built a house,
how many bricks did he use??

Someone answers with the number of bricks mickley used. You do kinda like one potato, two potato hitting tops of fist to the syllabals (sp?) of the words and the counts . The last person hit was it

1 potato
2 potato
3 potato

My ds6 learned eenie meenie miney mo last year and that is how he picks between two things. It is so funny to watch him try to make a decision. :p

5 potato
6 potato
7 potato
more!

To do this rhyme people hold their hands in fists....fists are then the potatos. As you land on a hand with the word "more" that person puts his fist behind his back. First person to lose both fists is "it."
