Count me in with the ones who would like to see it returned.

Actually, I used to watch it a lot - even as an adult. I stopped after Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens went off. Didn't care for any of the "new" shows since. They started the cheesy laugh tracks and getting laughs by being stupid. (oh gee, Raven's in another disguise. Wonder how that will turn out?)

I loved it when I was younger too. Remember DTV? 50's and 60's songs with a classic Disney video?

And they showed the old movies that were rather cheesy, but I loved them like Child of Glass. (anyone else know that one?)

I hate what the Disney channel has become. Toon Disney, too--and now they're even doing commercials!

I mean Phineas and Ferb?! They've ditched great little kids shows like Jojo and Stanley, and now it's all about Hannah Montana and Suite Life, and even the Waverly place show. Ew.

And Mickey's only role is on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. There should be more Mickey.

I remember!! And I remember when it was an "extra" channel that you had to pay for. I would get so excited when they would run a free weekend!

Of course, I also remember when MTV actually showed music videos! And VH1 too!

I remember when it was a special channel you had to pay for too! My mom would order it and I'd get so excited.

I watched Lizzie McGuire, Sister Sister, Even Stevens...they are were good shows that were actually funny. I also enjoyed That's So Raven...not sure if that's still on.

I miss the old Disney shows like Ducktales, Bear in the Big Blue House. They were all very good shows. :sad1:

I miss the early 2000's stuff. :( Back when the DCOMs focused on real life situations and the sitcoms were actually family-friendly and funny.

Yes but how much MONEY would be made or wasn't being made is the answer :( oh well...

I miss some of the stuff that DD and I used to watch - Ducktales, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck.

DH and I were just talking about that the other day, especially the cartoons on Saturday mornings!!! They're just getting ridiculous!!!:snooty:

They also ruined Toon Disney (in my opinion) by taking away the classic Disney cartoons and putting in that Jetix crap (sorry Jetix lovers, no offense). Oh well. . .at least DVD sets of many of the Disney Afternoon shows are available (Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, DuckTales, TaleSpin, Quack Pack, etc.)!

I am sad that it has to be all about what makes money, but in the end, Disney is a business and whatever sells the most is what they'll continue put out there, even if it is crap (to me). :sad2:

I'm not too crazy about Jetix either, but it was mostly aimed towards boys(3-12yrs old) so that have something to watch. We don't have cable, but whenever we go to my inlaws, my DS will watch it and you don't hear a peep out of him!!!

But, I really do miss all of the old Disney cartoons!! Ducktales was hilarious!!!

My husband and I just had this talk last night. We have been pretty lax in letting our girls (8 and 4) watch the Disney Channel whenever they want because its "Disney". And I have watched several of the shows that are on and just recently realized that while they are clean, the themes are too old. I know.....pretty poor parenting, huh? But my 4 year old is Hannah obsesed and while she is still very much "Four" she is channeling this "16 yr old diva attitude" at times. We decided to cut the TV time down to a set minimum and invest in some DVDs that we would rather they watch. Better late than never, right? Kinda makes me feel a little disapointed with Disney though.:guilty:

Ultimately, I think there should be a tween Disney channel & a TOOn Disney. Toon Disney should only show cartoons & leave the commercials on tween Disney, or whatever they want to call it. I mean, HM, HSM1,2,3 & Wizards are probably racking in the dough, so I understand why it has such a huge fan base, following, etc, but the old Disney shows & cartoons need to come back.. Anyone remember the title of this show: it was an orange cat ((NOT Garfield)) who was a cop. He had a "fluffy-" sized male cop partner.. I don't remember him actually fighting crime. He was very silly & often screwed things up for the big-guy partner. Ringing any bells? :(

I remember when we got Disney Channel, me and my sister were so excited, we would watch it all the time. Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers, wasn't there even a show about Gummy Bears or something? I remember watching it in the mornings, these bears that lived in a forest and when they drank the berry juice, they become bouncey, but if a human drank it, they would get really strong? And MMC, loved that show. My sister and I used to dance around the house going "M-I-CEEE See ya real soon! K-E-YYYY Why? Because we like you. M-O-U-S-E!!!!"

Was Care Bears ever on Disney? I can't remember. I used to watch that show all the time though when i was little. I know they have new episodes of it now on CBS I think, but it's not the same. Care-A-Lot looks totally different, and they don't come down to Earth anymore to help people that aren't caring.

I miss the days when the Mickey Mouse Club came on at 5. Ah, a young Justin Timberlake...so cute!!!

I wish they would play the old cartoons again. Kids today are missing out on so much!

I am 15 and wish that they would have old disney shows on.

I have always wanted to watch the mickey mouse club.

I am sick of disney channel because there is nothing Disney about it.

Couldn't have said it better..."NOTHING Disney about it"...

We watched the "old" disney channel all the time and we don't even HAVE kids!!! Now, we never turn it on. I'd like to see a TVLand type Disney channel with all those great cartoons, the Mickey Mouse Club and all the Wonderful World of Disney shows we watched as kids.

The kids LOVE the old cartoons too-they're on the TV's at the resorts and there are always kids sitting around them transfixed.

I miss Disney Inside Out and Vault Disney. Maybe they should make a Vault Disney Channel and show all the old Disney Channel stuff.

I would love to see this. Unfortunately, it would probably only be available on the highest programming packages.

I think Disney Channel does a pretty good job of trying to appeal to both preschool kids and preteen kids.

I do miss the older Disney cartoons, maybe they should do something like the Boomerang channel (that shows only older cartoons) my kids and I love watching Tom and Jerry, etc.

Also though I know many parents don't like Suite Life, Hannah Montana, etc. I am really glad that my 9 year old still likes to watch that. I think those shows are still innocent enough while being "hip". I really don't want her watching Teen Nick.

I understand being a parent of a young child and not liking the "older" programming on the Disney Channel, but trust me, when your child is a preteen you will be grateful that they still watch Disney!

What kills me is that they continue playing the tween shows late at night when all the kids should be asleep.

Disney channel should have something for everyone. Mornings geared towards the young kids (1-5), afternoons for the older kids (6-10), early evenings for the tweens and young teens (11-15) and the rest of the time for everyone else.

Yep. I bought that a few years ago on video. It was difficult to find then. Now it's even more so.

While I really don't mind a couple of the shows, I don't think they're as good a quality of the older shows. That and they keep having those marathons of these shows. Either show some of the older stuff or invest in some new shows.

Nickelodeon was the same for me too. The quality of shows tanked from the shows that were on 10-15 years ago. These writers dumbed everything down to the point of ridiculousness. I don't see it ever going to what it once was.
