I want to get away from FL and go somewhere I can feel and experience Christmas. Nevada City is at the top of my list. All thanks to a certain Hallmark Christmas movie. I was looking for more suggestions.

We went to Colonial Williamsburg for a few days over last Christmas break. The colonial area was beautifully decorated. They had Christmas programming and caroling. There was even an outdoor ice skating rink with white twinkle lights set up in the more modern town square that abuts the colonial area. It was very Hallmark worthy in my opinion! This Chrsitmas I think we are trying the Poconos.

Same answer.

I have done Colonial Williamsburg during part of the Christmas holidays. Just beautiful. Quaint. Traditional. Wonderful memories.

Christmas Town is also on at Busch Gardens.

We love skiing at Vail, CO during the holiday season with the quaint village and gorgeous decorations. But our favorite part of the vacation is a side trip to the Historic Georgetown, CO Christmas Festival. A Christmas and town right out of the 1800's.

Madison, CT.

Spent a holiday season there in a rented house on the beach and was able to make a full celebratory dinner for my extended family. Oh right and I wanted too :D.
We split into smaller groups by interests. Some wandered the town admiring the holiday decor; some took bikes and cars a few miles down the road to Hammonassett State Park, picked pine cones and various foliage to make wreathes and bird nests to decorate the house during our stay. Once we went en mass to Mystic Seaport and Aquarium with an obligatory stop at Mistick Mall to shop at the Christmas store. Another time we went to a local museum and participated in a Christmas carol singalong. Zoomed over to RI, one day and sampled various types of gingerbreads and admired a gingerbread exhibit by local artisans.
You are close to a lot of other towns and cities so can go small or large as you like. We stayed in a house but the Dolly Madison Inn looks like fun as well. Met the former owner at a state park and it sounds like her DD is still doing well by the place.

We have a special affinity for Madison but there are many other shore towns to chose from.

Have fun wherever you choose to go.

I personally wouldn’t want to go where Christmas is cheesy. I think if you want something natural and not overblown go somewhere like Fargo or Grand Forks. I’m sure there’s places closer to you than that LOL

Levenworth, WA

I haven’t been yet but it on my list. I know others who have been though.

That was going to be my suggestion too but honestly they may already be booked! I tried to go last year in the first week of December and all lodging was full.

That sounds really lovely. But does Williamsburg get any snow? I can't imagine purposely traveling to a town for Christmas, and it has everything but snow. :confused3

I'm thinking, as PP mentioned VT or Vail, Co or somewhere where there's definitely a likelihood of snow. :cold:

Maybe Traverse City? Never been around Christmas, but place is awesome, would have lots of snow, right on the water, great places to eat, etc.
