I picked up this book from my book club when it was released. I'd heard good things about the author and thought I'd give the book a try.

So I am exhausted this morning because I stayed up late last night because I could not put the book down. I LOOOOOOVE books like that!! I finished it last night, but a few things have got me scratching my head.

*spoilers*

In the beginning, you find out Josie is hording sleeping pills, with the intention of someday committing suicide. Throughout the book you find out about her pregnancy, cruel boyfriend, etc. The pills aren't really brought up again and the suicidal thought aren't really addressed anymore.

Second, did Peter kill himself in prison? He stuffed a sock down his throat, it gets difficult to breathe, but it never says if he actually dies, unless I missed something. I was reading so fast I may have missed it :)

I have My Sister's Keeper. Is it as good as this one?

I didn't look at your spoilers because I'm reading the book right now, on page 172. I love her books, she's a great writer! We're leaving today for a 4-night camping trip in Ludington so hopefully I'll finish it during that time.

I've read both books and some others by Jodi Picoult.

My Sister's Keeper is by far my favorite of her books so far. The ending blew me away!

I too read the book and had trouble with the ending. I ended up going on the authors website. There is a message board that discusses all of her books. I read what over people wrote and that cleared up a lot of things for me.

I too loved the book but felt the ending was rushed. I belived Peter did die at the end. I did not understand why Josie went to prison. Oblivously she was a victim of battered women sydrom.

The book really made me think about things. I really felt sorry for Peters parents.

Definatly read My Sisters Keeper. That is a great book.
Happy reading.:goodvibes

I read this book a few months ago, when it first came out, so I've kind of forgotten a lot of it. Actually, I didn't remember the part about Josie hording sleeping pills.

I did end up believing that Peter killed himself in jail.

Yes, My Sister's Keeper is as good as this one. I also very much enjoyed Plain Truth. The only one that I didn't particularly care for was The Tenth Circle. Just okay.

I loved this book - My heart went out to Peter's parents and it really made me think about my own sons.

Yes, Peter did kill himself in the end. And I thought the sleeping pills were mentioned again.....but I can't remember.

Fantastic book - I love all of her books.

Loved this book. Read The Pact, another one you just can't put down. Someone left in our vacation condo last year and I spent the whole day by the pool reading!

Just finished reading this book yesterday! The ending did take me a bit by surprise, but here's what I think-(don't read if you don't want to know what happened)

the sleeping pills were mentioned a 2nd time and I believe she flushed them down the toilet as she realized she couldn't go through with it. also, I was surprised she just got manslaughter charge for what she did - it wasn't 1st degree murder, but was definitely not self-defense at the time of the incident. I also believe Peter did do himself in at the end. I felt so bad for Peter's parents - losing both sons is unimaginable to me, being the mom of 2 sons myself.

I loved, loved that book and it got me on a Jodi Picoult kick. I have The Tenth Circle waiting until I finish The Other Boleyn Girl.

You are correct. I completely forgot that. Thanks!

Mine too! Great book. :thumbsup2

I went to a book signing for this book. I highly recommend going to one if she comes to your area. She was terrific!

Jodi Picoult has been one of my favorite authors for years, I'm so glad that the general public is finally so aware of her! Believe me, ALL of her books are EXCELLENT. Everyone knows about My Sister's Keeper, but Plain Truth is another awesome read.

I've not had a chance to read Nineteen Minutes yet but I have read both "The Pact" and "My Sister's Keeper" and they were excellent. Especially My Sister's Keeper. That one really throws you for a loop at the end! I'm making a note to pick up Nineteen Minutes, sounds intriguing.

My Sister's Keeper is by far my favorite of Jodi Piccoult's books so far. Also high on the list are Plain Truth and Keeping Faith. I read The Tenth Circle and did not think it was as good as the others. 19 Minutes is next on my list.

I really enjoyed this book, yet parts of it made me scared, especially since I have a 17 year old DS. This book almost seemed too realistic. I can't wait to read another of hers.
