I dislike mushrooms, mixed greens, and some eggplant. I try musroom every couple of year, they're still not my bag (and I'm a vegetarian, and eating mushrooms would make going out to eat a lot easier). I'm working on eggplant, I like it about 75% off the time. I still dislike field greens, but I can tolerate arugala and watercress. How about you?

Yes! I've tried beets so many ways, and still can't get myself to like them. Same with brussel sprouts.

Yup! I will try things I don't like if they are prepared in a way I've never tried. I've found that the way things are prepared can make a big difference in how they taste.
As an example, my husband hated brussel sprouts! I loved them!! One Thanksgiving my family came to our house, and I made sauteed brussell sprouts to go along with the meal. In my house the adults follow the rules too, and our rule is you have to try two bites. Well my husband tried a bite, and then another, and another, and pretty soon he was loading his plate up with seconds! He had only ever had steamed brussel sprouts, now he can't get enough if they are sauteed or roasted!!
Same goes for asparagus. He had only had canned (blech!!) so he thought he hated it, but I grilled asparagus one night, and now that's a summer time staple in my house.

I do retry things but I still end up disliking them. I've had things spoil because I just can't bring myself to eat them.

Every month I try something that I either have never tried before or something I didn't previously like. I have liked just about everything except for eggplant. I have tried this so many different ways and still can't tolerate it :confused3. I do love just about any and all vegetables roasted though. Roasted butternut squash is on my agenda for this month :) (rutabaga was last month). But it's not just vegetables, I'll try new spices or weird recipes once a month too. I've been pleasantly surprised most of the time! I used to hate mushrooms but now I actually like them raw, just not cooked.

Yes. When I decided to eat healthy there were a lot of things I used to dislike that I retried and like now that my pallet has changed. The best examples are broccoli and tomatoes. Some things like brussel sprouts and cauliflower I still don't like but I retried them a couple of different ways before writing them off.

Same here with seafood. If I can get past the smell, I'll try it--- ughhhh. Nearly 30 years later, I'm still not a fan. I don't think I ever will be.

I'm getting better with creamy sauces, I can do a caesar salad, but I don't think I'll ever like mayo, sour cream, yogurt (tried that again recently-- ended disastrously) or Alfredo-type sauces.

Seems like brussel sprouts are also a common theme here, lol. Blecch!

Most of the things I don't like are due to texture. (Mushrooms are spongy, tomatoes are gooey, etc) I rarely dislike because of taste, but the one thing that I really don't like at all, to be general is fish. I hate the "fishy" taste.

BRUSSEL SPROUTS!....yes, I shouted that! No way, no how!

Add turnips & okra to that short list too.

The only things I truly HATE are texture issues for me - meat. I can handle very finely ground meat (only beef...Dh and the kids eat ground buffalo and turkey,...) and I like the stringy meats (roasts, brisket, etc).

I haven't eaten a hot dog, sausage, brat, etc. in over 15 years. Just cannot.

I have not met a veggie I don't like (Brussel sprouts are my FAVE!!!!!!!!!) and I can tolerate most fruit (too sweet for me, but I love the taste of them).

I hate brussel sprouts, turnips, and beets. However, if some said to me "this is the best recipe for (insert one of above) you've ever tasted" I'd at least give it a try. :)

Yes that is my last resort. I will eat most anything. My mom always has beets and I know how good they are for you, so I retried them a couple of months ago. Yes they still taste like dirt.:lmao:

Also red wine. I sample every where I go and still don't like it.

I do have a texture thing with melons and pears (gritty thing). I do not like the taste of melons. I keep trying it and I will eat melons and pears in a fruit salad from time to time but I don't like it really. However I love the taste of pears for flavor.

The two main things I really dislike aren't that healthy to begin with so I don't make an effort to try them occasionally--pizza and any kind of beef but ground beef. Yes, I know it's weird.

I do occasionally try vegetables & fruits that I dislike--and they still don't make the cut--not a fan of zuchini, squash or melon. But I do love brussels sprouts AND beets. :thumbsup2

Over the past few years I have grown to like:

cous cous
tomatoes (except for the mushy part so I buy Roma's)
eggplant
spinich
cabbage -- (and cole slaw only my late FIL's)
egg salad
french onion soup

My husband is very very picky, and I keep telling him just to try things repeatedly. He keeps turning up his nose. If it weren;t for trying these things over and over, I would not have grown to like/love them.

I'm an unfortunately reformed picky eater -- I say unfortunate because I'll eat just about anything now! I wish I'd go back to being picky.

However, two things I just can't stand are mushrooms and peas. I recently tried mushrooms again, but I still think they taste like dirt. Peas, I've gotten to where I can eat something like sugar snap peas, but definitely not frozen peas or peas in a can. I also still don't like mustard or ketchup.

Yes just yestersday I had a baked sweet potatoe I didn't ever like sweet potatoes before.

I have recently grown to love asparagus, pea pods, egg salad, gorgonzola cheese (only in a grilled steak and mixed green salad with red onion and balsamic vinagrette) and salmon. I wouldn't have touched any of those things a few years ago. I'm working on eggplant, I was watching a show on FitTV and the man was making a grilled eggplant parm sandwich that looked soooo good. I'm trying it this weekend but I can't promise anything

Yes I have especially if it is made a different way than I have tried. I tried some cooked spinach a few weeks ago b/c it was made in a healthy burrito but still couldn't eat it. I like fresh spinach though. Tomatoes I have tried them on occasion but I still can't stand them. However I CAN NOT bring myself to eat peas, the ONLY thing I can not retry. I HATE tea and I have retied them lots of times b/c of different flavors but still don't like it. I'll try anything, I tried crawl dad and nope don;t like those either, I just tried those about 6 months ago. Alligator and shark now I LIKE those a lot. See I'll try ANYTHING!

I hate regular mustard. I like honey mustard in small amounts. I can eat ketchup and it won't bother me, but if someone else is eating ketchup and I'm not, the smell of it turns my stomach.

OH man!!! I sooooo want to go eat that now! And I'm pregnant so I REALLY want to eat it now!!!!
