Anyone rather gouge their eye out than shop on BF?

DW & I love Black Friday. We rarely buy anything, but we enjoy getting some Starbucks and watching the madness around us. We like hearing the music, and seeing the hustle & bustle of the shoppers.

We've never had anything on our list that we needed to go crazy for on BF, so it's actually very leisurely for us.

Looking forward to it already! :thumbsup2

Same for us! We're looking forward to getting our Starbucks and leisurely strolling the mall! Our only "must get" is the free soda with Auntie Anne's pretzel nuggets! We'll probably head out in 2 hours or so.

Well, have not gone out yet and I am shopping *gasp* online. I really never shop online. Odds and ends maybe but 14yodd wears Aerie hoodies and they are 20.00 (reg 39) with free shipping. Can't pass it up.

OK their site keeps crashing and they are giving out a discount code because of it. 25%off until midnight for online purchases, for American Eagle, Aerie, and 77Kids.

Have to say 25% off your purchase is pretty good. The sweatshirts I want are 20 and with the discount 15...whoo-hoo. Now I just have to hope they get the site going again.

I've always been uncomfortable with the whole concept of Black Friday. Maybe it's just being brought up Quaker, I don't know... but the whole thing feels immoral to me. Like an excess of crass consumerism, or something. :confused3

I do understand lots of people love it, though, so I'm not judging anyone.

I look at it as a postive. The stores are hoping to get into the "Black" so they can continue forward for another yr.

So yes, it is all perspective.

My DD just posted this on Facebook:

It's ironic that black friday is the day after we're supposed to be thankful for all we have...

The only place I really like to go on black friday is Target. Yes it is insane, however I know what I need and I can get what I want.

For bigger purchases I do them online. Its easy for me!

I don't care how good the deals are, I couldn't do it. I love shopping; but I love it in a sane, peaceful environment. Put me in the midst of a crowd and my brain completely shuts down to the point I can't even think what it is I need to purchase and the steps I need to take to do so. I'd just stand there like a deer caught in headlights trying to think of a way to get OUT. I do envy those who are able to deal with it and enjoy the energy, though. I'm just not one of them. I'll be putting up my christmas decorations today in blessed peace. :)

Now see that is why Black Friday works on me.;)

I hate shopping and I cringe to pay full price for stuff.

Now I did buy stuff online this yr. So, may do this more.:yay:

No black friday shopping for me. I was going to go to get a camera, but I believe there will still be great prices right before Christmas.

We may go out tomorrow.
