Anyone rather gouge their eye out than shop on BF?

I have never gone out on BF. I don't like crowds let alone wake up at 3am or so to stand in line.

I am a female who doesn't like shopping. when i go, it is done in big amounts to get it over with.

Years ago, before Walmart, we had a Zayres the would be open late hours at the holidays and I would go with my DF and he LOVED to XMAS shop.

With him gone, I TRY to enjoy XMAS shopping, but I am still not all into it.

I do like the after XMAS shopping though, just not early the next day after XMAS.

Won't even attempt shopping on BF. I'll shop in my jammies online.

Gouge my eyes out and then pour salt all over my wounds!

We call BF Bum Friday here. We stay in jammies all day, eat left overs, watch Christmas movies and decorate the house. :santa:

Me too! I guess for me, BF is like the championship game of the anti-shopper. "How fast can you get through 10 stores and get everything on your list."

My tips:

1. Make a list in advance
2. Grab only the items on your list

Every time, I get hung up somewhere it is because I stopped to just look "at just one more thing" or "I wonder if X is on sale." So definitely don't bring a "looky-loo" shopper. I would never be able to go with my mother.

I avoid laptops, tvs and the other big ticket items people go nuts for. I only go to Best Buy at the end to see what's left. Walmart, I will go to the midnight part of the sale because we have a 24 hour Walmart so I don't have to freeze, and what I want isn't what other people want. Last year, DH and I went and we were the first people back to the checkout line.

OMG, you may be right.

Now we did get electronics back in the day when you could get some awesome doorbusters, so I digress there.

DW & I love Black Friday. We rarely buy anything, but we enjoy getting some Starbucks and watching the madness around us. We like hearing the music, and seeing the hustle & bustle of the shoppers.

We've never had anything on our list that we needed to go crazy for on BF, so it's actually very leisurely for us.

Looking forward to it already! :thumbsup2

I would rather gouge my eyes out than go shopping tomorrow, and I LOVE to shop. Luckily, I won't have to shop tomorrow, because Ill be behind a checkout counter all day at work :goodvibes::scared1:lmao:

But anyways, I agree...I've never found something on black friday that wasn't the same price or even cheaper some other day. Explain that to me. Yep, even at the store I work at.

I love BF.

Yes it is worth it. Some folks stand in line for Hours to buy concert tickets, others will spend hours in all sorts of weather to watch football. Everyone has got their thing hthat thy would gladly sub out gouging their eyes out.

Now---you won't catch me waiting for the $2 tv or the xbox combo pack.

But I will get $4 jammies and wait in line and DIS until it is my turn. :)
But I won't attend a sporting event of any kind unless I have some personal vested interest in that I personally know someone playing. I'd rather watch that at home with my line free bathroom and snacks that don't cost a fortune. :)

Last year my DW dragged me out to Target at 4am for BF, after waiting on line to get in I was hungary, so when we got in I was the 1st person to check out, I bought a bag of pretzels & soda:lmao: Probably ruined asspects for the day:lmao:

We figured this year we already have already spent about 1k on DS for Christmas already (been shopping around the last few months) I told her she was not allowed to go out BF, but it seems like my mother in law Trumped it and she is shopping with her in the A.M. hope she only helps her mom shop:lmao::scared1:

I love BF! I think it's really fun to do with friends who enjoy it also. It's up there with HP premiers.

Our game plan is:
1. Walmart
2. Outlet stores (only Nike, The North Face and Coach)
3. Old Navy
4. Best Buy
5. Mall (Dick's, American Eagle and Abercrombie)
6. Target
7. Nordstrom Rack

Shouldn't take us long, we should be golden to have a great lunch at lunchtime.

The boys are all going to Fry's, Best Buy, REI and Dick's/Sports Authority... go figure.

I even enjoy it by myself which is a good thing because I don't know anyone crazy enough to stand in line at 4:00AM. :)

It's fun even if I buy nothing. I can't even explain why to be honest. Finding a good bargain just adds to it.

3:20am, Checked out and DONE!!

Bought 4 GREAT items from Walmart and never left my bed. :cool1:

Going back to bed now.... ZZZZZZzzzzz

I prefer to come home from my moms after Thanksgiving dinner, get my jammies on and shop online after everyone goes to bed. It's become a tradition for me:thumbsup2

I do this and love it. No crowds, no gas, and no store stock lottery. :thumbsup2

If you want my honest opinion I think it is all stupid, but I really hate how Christmas has become about "the latest greatest deal" and has lost its true meaning.

See we are done with big ticket. BF used to be so awesome with deals. Not so much anymore.

However the "doorbusters" can be good. I just need clothes this yr and we are going to check it out.

We don't do big ticket items because I find we can get what we want cheaper at other times in the year. But we definitely save money on the smaller deals. We are major online shoppers and deal hunters and found some excellent deals online, but some stuff is a real deal at the store. Buzz Wings for $12, Bugsby for $12, Bugsby books for $5. Much cheaper than anywhere we can find online. Plus, since kids need new clothes every year, we stock up their pjs and get them new jackets for super cheap with the sale items. BF is still totally worth it to us. :thumbsup2

I don't care how good the deals are, I couldn't do it. I love shopping; but I love it in a sane, peaceful environment. Put me in the midst of a crowd and my brain completely shuts down to the point I can't even think what it is I need to purchase and the steps I need to take to do so. I'd just stand there like a deer caught in headlights trying to think of a way to get OUT. I do envy those who are able to deal with it and enjoy the energy, though. I'm just not one of them. I'll be putting up my christmas decorations today in blessed peace. :)

I think it is a bait and switch. You get in line at 3 am and find out they only have 10 in stock. Been there done that...
