Anyone rather gouge their eye out than shop on BF?

Just wondering if it's just me? I hate to shop to begin with.

My Mom, Sister and SIL love to shop and always go out on BF. Last year they asked me to join them.

We were up at 3am and standing in line in the rain waiting for the doors to open at 4am.

Honestly, there was nothing I wanted that badly. I would have gladly paid $100 more for something just to avoid the whole experience.

I wandered around aimlessly byself and ended up buying a couple of things while waiting for them to get done.

They all stated that they would prefer me not to join them again. I did not take offense!

So, anyone else?

ME!!!!!!!!!! I am the same way - I am not much of a shopper so the idea of getting up at the crack of dawn to fight crowds in a store is just no gonna happen.

Well, I'm a guy, so gouging my eyes out - I am tough enough to take it. :thumbsup2

I prefer to come home from my moms after Thanksgiving dinner, get my jammies on and shop online after everyone goes to bed. It's become a tradition for me:thumbsup2

::yes::

I enjoy waking up on BF to watch all the crazy people, freezing in line to get into the stores and then waiting in huge lines to check out. The news covers BF sales well. Plus I can see crazy people from all over the country on TV... all from the comfort of my warm bed.

I hate shopping.....I"m going horseback riding instead.

You couldn't pay me to shop on BF. Well, it depends on how much I guess. Do people really save enough to make it worth all the insanity you have to deal with?

I never really have been into BF and the funny thing is stores are starting the "pre-" black Friday sales earlier anyway now. I do find it kind of funny but it makes sense if you think about it logically --

Here are stores thinking (at least I'm assuming): We started putting Christmas stuff out WAY in advance of Christmas and people started buying it then, that meant we weren't stuck selling 1/2 of it at clearance prices -- we got full price -- Woo Hoo!!!

So in theory, starting black Friday says before black Friday should do the same thing AND we don't have to worry about riot control, trampling and all the bad things that go along with black Friday.

There is NOTHING I want so badly that I'm willing to give my life for it on that early in the morning. Not a single thing I can think of that I just must have or else. I've never been one to attempt to get the "hot" toy either -- no way am I paying $200.00 for a toy that on December 26 is going to be $19.99!!!

My DH did stand in line once for a DVD player but that was about it & really if he didn't get it wouldn't have been the end of the world.

Well with us, we would wait all year and that is when we would buy electronics, TV's, computers, etc. So yes, we did save money, a lot of money actually.

I love the insanity. It is fun.;)

I will have to say the last few yrs have not been really worth going however I am going to shop for boots, shoes, and purses this yr. So it is not like things are "super cheap" however you are getting a lot of the "rack rate" of what it normally sells for.

OK, I admit it. I am a sick and twisted person. I managed a kiosk in a Mall for years, and my favorite day of the year to work was Black Friday. I loved all of Christmas season. I loved the energy, the Christmas music played over and over and over again. The busier we were, the happier I was.

Ok, I admit, it could have had something to do with the commission I got on sales... One of the women I worked for called it "Green Energy," the more green coming in, the more energy she had :)

If we didn't go to my in-laws for Thanksgiving every year now, I would be out shopping on BF...maybe not at 0 dark thirty, but still out there. What we do now is go to a big Holiday Shoppers Fair in OC, MD. Not quite the same thing, but still a lot of fun.

The title of this thread made me laugh out loud. I hate the act of shopping (looking around aimlessly, crowds, carrying heavy things, lines, etc) but I do love great deals. Hello, online shopping! I get the same fantastic prices, free shipping, all from the blessed, exquisite comfort of my couch with my warm beverage of choice by my side, fuzzy blanket over my legs.

My MIL lives for Black Friday and cannot understand why I won't go with her.She thinks I'm "insane" to spend more. Last year she bragged to me about the great deal she got at WalMart on the Nintendo DS Lite. I got it for $2 less on Amazon and didn't have to leave my house. Ha haha ha ha!!

The past two weekends seemed like Black Friday in our area. Yesterday the traffic was backed up all the way to the interstate exit to go to Walmart and/or Christmas Tree Shoppe. :confused3 It's deer hunting season so locals call this "widows weekends" where all the wives go shopping to spite their hunter husbands. I despise Black Friday and will not go out, but DH loves to go. He never buys anything...he just likes the hustle and bustle.

bring on cyber monday! black friday is my idea of hell. my sisters used to always go out and I would shudder just thinking about it.

I think you might be looking at it wrong. BF is not really shopping. . .it's hunting. I love BF. . .but it is definitely hunting. . .it's the thrill of the kill. Last year was the first year I didn't go solo. My DD15 has been begging to go with me for years. I figured she was finally old enough. We worked really well as a team. :thumbsup2

We monitored Black Friday, through Christmas and into January this year. The best prices were in January, so we're buying what we have to before Christmas, but any big ticket purchases will come in January.
