Anyone rather free dining then resort discount?

We're booked for 10 nights at Riverside over Memorial Day week with the free dining and we saved $1840. We are 4 Disney adults (our boys 21 and 18) so there's no way a room only discount could equal that.

We have been going every year for 20+ years and we've never had free dining so we're way beyond excited!! My young men love to eat so this is wonderful for us. I booked Aug. 16 the day free dining was released and I still cannot believe Disney included Memorial Day. ;)

That is great! Ten days,Wow! I am jealous. The most we have been able to stay is 7 and if we do not get free dining it will be cut back less this year. Also, I noticed that you are from KY!! :thumbsup2

We're a Deluxe family with kids under the age of 10, so the '%off room' is always a better deal for us. I originally booked FD offer for our May trip. Then, when the 30% off discount came out, I applied that code instead of FD and ended up saving another $400. I could certainly see that FD might be better when our kids have to pay adult prices...we always do the Ddp anyway. Guess you just have to run the numbers to see.

I am looking to book for mid-August at Pop, got a pin for 35% room discount. We usually stay off property, so my question is, once I book the room with the discount (have to book by 2/28), if disney decides to do free dining during my vacation dates, does disney automatically add FD to my already booked package?

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

No. You'd have to call and change it when/if FD is announced again, if it covers your dates, and hopefully your resort would have availability at the time you're traveling under the free dining promo. They won't automatically do it. And, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd have to abandon your 35% off pin for free dining (one or the other discount) so it may or may not be cheaper to get free dining should it come out again.

You're right...only 1 code per ressie.

It absolutely kills me that Free Dining is being offered at the end of May, when more people will be there, than early in May when we are. We're a family of four adults, and the dining would have saved us a whole lot more than the puny $25% off at the Poly being offered now. If it was 40% I could live with that a whole lot better, even though Free Dining would still have been more. And don't even get me started on how everyone and their uncle seems to get a pin but me!

Hi wildcatfan!!
Yes, we live in Kentucky and like your username we are huge Kentucky Wildcat fans!! We certainly didn't like losing both the Bowl game and the basketball game yesterday. :rolleyes1 My oldest son is a Jr at UK and he loves it!!

We are very excited to be staying 10 nights. It will give us a lot more time so we don't have to rush so much. Now that my boys are older they are not as anxious to get up at 6:00 am while at Disney so this will help with that!! :thumbsup2 They're not like their Mom who loves to get up early at Disney and hit the ground running.

We also chose FD over resort discounts. We did the math and for us it was cheaper to get our dining free. We like to stay longer in a mod than shorter stays in deluxes. I know some people disagree with me but that's what makes the world go around...;)
Plus we like to eat......and it's always better when someone else is paying for it...;)
Enjoy your vacation

I 100% agree - we do the same thing.

We stay 9 nights at POR with free dining.

That is so much more enjoyable for us than spending the same amount on a deluxe for fewer nights.

Anyone rather free dining then the resort discount? me, me,me

We are currently booked with the "kids stay/play offer", but would love FD. DH wants to stay offsite and FD might be the only way to convince him to keep our current POFQ reservation.

We too prefer the FD over any other discounts. We stay at Value resorts typically and enjoy our table service meals so it totally works for us.
We have FD for our August trip. Yeah!:cool1:

Free dining works best for us too since our kids are considered adults. Last year we had 35% off at POFQ and it saved us roughly $500. We later received a pin for free QSDP and switched to that, it saved us almost $1000! They refunded us the additional almost $500 and switched the offer.

I figured out that it was cheaper for us to take the free dining instead of the room discount. I would have gotten the dining plan anyway so with it being free I still save a few hundred dollars vs. the room discount.
