Anyone postponing a September trip???

We were supposed to be there September 4-11. We decided Friday to postponed our trip until the first week in December.

We were going to be staying at the YC for the first time, so we are disappointed. However, we hope that everyone in the path of the storm comes out alright. Are prayers are with everyone.

We just cancelled. We were supposed to arrive on Saturday, theh 4th and pushed our date back to tommorrow (Monday). But, the driving conditions are looking very bad for overnight and tommorrow. We were not sure we would be able to make it in. Plus, it looks like it might rain for most of our trip. We are going to try and rescheudule on Tuesday. We rented points through a DVC member and DVC member services is not open until Tuesday. Fortunately, the gentleman with whom we are working has been great.

FYI, for those who are still going, we had been watching the live feed from http://www.wftv.com and it was very helpful.

Best wishes to all of you who can make it. Stay safe.

We have a Sept. 18-24 planned and can't wait. I sure hope we make it.

We are still planning on arriving the 16th (as long as the flight is going).

Does anyone know of any things the CM's or other people affected by the hurricane may need? I was thinking of bringing small gift cards for basic supplies (ie Target, WalMart) or little care packages to hand out to a few CM's whose families were affected. I couldn't do much... but having been through a natural disaster I can't not do anything. I just don't know what I can do that will be practical for me to bring (and carry around the parks), and also be needed by the people affected.

Hubby and I were suppose to be there this weekend, but rescheduled to 9/23 - 9/26...and now our son is coming!!

We are supposed to arrive on the 24th. We'll watch Ivan very closely.

Hi,
While your offer to help is so loving and kind, there really isn't anyway to know just whom to give your gift cards to or which CM's need it the most...The best way to make sure your charitable gift is received by someone that truly needs it is to make a donation to the American Red Cross The Red Cross is one group that is always right there for everyone. The Link is:

Thank you for helping.

Hi,

First of all our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people who live in Florida who have had there lived turned upside down do to the two hurricanes that have come through and trashed much of Florida.

We were going to be at WDW Sept 4-6, but when Charley came through, we changed it to Nov 25-28. However even though August and September are the biggest time for hurricanes to hit during hurricane season, the way this season has started, it lookes very unpredictable so we are taking no chances and are moving our November trip to sometime next year (Jan-July).

We realize that nothing might come at all, but we would rather play it safe, plus this free's up a room at CSR for someone who cancelled in September and might want to go in November under the BAT code.

We were supposed to be on the 9/4 Magic Cruise 7-night turned 5-night turned 4-night. Since we've already done two 4-night cruises we didn't want to do another one (and still no Castaway Cay) we took our refund from DCL. In order to salvage our airfare we've decided to visit WDW instead.

Yesterday I was able to get a standard WL room on AP rate for 4 nights beginning September 8th. Now I'm trying to plan this trip at the last minute. I'm just so grateful to be able to do SOMETHING this week! We've never stayed or even stepped foot in WL, so we're very excited about this new experience!

SEE YOU ALL THERE! :sunny:

We are leaving on 9-11 as long as MCO is open::yes::
Even if Ivan will be passing through...I would rather be at the WL than anywhere else.
Our prayer go out to all those who have been affected by both Charley and Frances. My parents have been evacuated both times but have not had any damage when they returned thank goodness.

We are suppose to leave on Sunday the 12th but will be watching Ivan!!

Suppose to leave Monday. This is our first Poly stay and I really don't want to spend it with Ivan. I just got off the phone with Disney and the CM told me if I modified within the 5 days I would not be penalized. Another concern I have is my PSs. Hoop Dee Doo for the day of our arrival and CRT for Tuesday. Not too worried about CRT. DD11 has decided she doesn't want to do that anyway. I'll wait til Friday to see where Ivan is. I could use this vacation after this past week but what kind of a vacation would it be spending it inside (can do that here) also we'd be one less family the resort CMs have to worry about.

i usually go at the very end of september in order to hook on to the value season rate. this year it will be oct 1. if there is a hurricane destined for florida, i will cancel and reschedule. from what i have viewed on the weather channel on the destruction, i want to be as far away as possible from any hurricane............

I postponed our trip (Labor day weekend) because we didn't have a choice. With the airport closed at noon on Friday our flight was cancelled. Since it was only going to be a 3 night trip it wasn't worth it. We are going the beginning of March instead.

We are watching Ivan, but feel confident everything will be good and we'll leave the 18th as scheduled, with Mickey ponchos in hand!!!

Can't wait :Pinkbounc

:umbrella: After waiting a long time for this trip, I am less than excited right now due to the parades of storms lines up. The Altantic looks like a parking lot! But we will go if the window of opportunity arises. Can't leave if it threatens New Orleans OR...if it is heading to Orlando so we need two miracles.

But all of this is for fun so who can complain at all about a missed vacation compared to the rough road that our FL friends are traveling!? Best of luck to all there and everyone else...donate to the Red Cross -- please!

That is our plan right now. Just saw this morning the projected path of IVAN in central FL for next Tuesday. We've done August, Sept and Oct since 1999 and never even had to worry about the possibility of cancelling. In Oct 99 there was a small hurricane the day we got there but it was just dark, a little wind and some rain...the next day was absolutely beautiful.

If I have to postpone then I will.

Pixie Dust to all who live in hurricane hit areas.

Missy

I was planning on going the first week of September, but had to change my plans to the last week of september, first week of october. Now I get to be there for the food and wine festival!
