Anyone Planning International Travel for August Now That Restrictions Have Loosened?

As of now, I am booked for a trip to WDW in 10 days but have to say that I am still debating whether to do it or not. Travelling with one kid that is less than 12 years old - so no vaccine and the most recent case count is not the most reassuring... and I am not one to usually worry...
It is worrisome for sure. We’re leaving Saturday. Both of us are fully vaccinated but we plan on wearing masks for indoors like stores, rides, inside queues, or if I’m uncomfortable with how close people are to me in the queue.
I also didn’t book many TS. Only 3 for 2 weeks. Mostly will eat CS on outside patios. I think if we take sensible precautions it should be ok.

I am looking at dates for August too. Trying to get the flights from YYZ and the dates at WDW to jive... for others who are doing similar, are you worried about getting a positive test in the states and having to quarantine until you get a negative one and come back? This is the only piece I'm stressing about.

What do you think? Part of me thinks this is just going to be the price of travel now. Thanks!

Fairly similar to our plan, but starting next Friday. I have 3 TS reservations right now that I will likely cancel, although one has outdoor seating so may keep that one. We definitely intend on wearing a mask and let's just say that there are new CDC guidelines released today and will leave it at that, so as not to contravene posting rules

I think length of stay is critical for that aspect, although some now report that delta could turn out a positive result within 2 days. In theory, a one week-stay where you get tested on day 4, you odds of testing positive would be fairly low

We're heading down in less than two weeks. The return test is precisely what I am concerned about. I, for one, am hoping Disney adopts masking changes based on today's CDC announcement. That would certainly help a little.

We're booked for Marathon Weekend in January. That will be our first international trip though I expect I'll likely have to travel for work before then. Hoping situation is better and that testing won't be required (if fully vaxxed) but at this point its unlikely to deter us.

I'm going August 15 for a week. I looked at renting a car in case we test positive while down there and need to drive home instead of flying. My question is is if we do test positive, are we even allowed to then rent a car and drive right through the country??

You must isolate for 10 days after testing positive as per cdc. This would mean no stopping along the way. Most (if not all) car rental places will not rent if you have covid. Perhaps if you had the reservation before the results... I don't know. Would be worth calling them.

We just cancelled our late August trip. To much extra work for a limited experience.

Headed to California August 26-Sept 4, splitting our time between San Diego and DLR. The testing requirements are proving to be expensive and challenging but hopefully it's all worth it! We'll all be fully vaxxed but still plan to mask inside for sure and outside if it's too congested.

Now CBSA say that they are going on strike. Just to add to the fun of international travel.
That one is going to be interesting. They definitely have the right to strike as at August 6, but this could take several forms - one of which would be to process arriving passengers at the same pace but not calculate and charge any taxes and duties owned for example. They could "randomly" require more passengers to go for testing on arrival... so on and so on.

So just read that fully vaccinated travellers from the US will not have to quarantine when travelling to the UK. But fully vaccinated travellers from Canada will. This is a perfect example of how political all these travel restrictions are. Because this makes zero sense.

There is a reason I'm doing another year of WDW instead of International Travel. Hopefully a year from now all this is nothing but a bad memory. Really hoping for UK in fall of 2022 and Asia Disney Parks in Spring 2023.

The UK restriction is very odd, given their and the US cases are going up and most of Canada seems to be doing well (and getting higher percentage of vaccinated people). Oh well... I guess we'll be able to travel again someday? Fingers crossed.

If you’re close to a border, perhaps consider flying back stateside and getting a shuttle service to take you across the border. We are going in a few weeks and will fly back to Detroit. We will make arrangements to get one of the rapid tests at a nearby walgreens. There are several locations near the airport. only risk is if we can’t get results same day in which case we will just spend the night in a hotel and return home the following day.
