Well I figure by the time I am ready to travel beyond Canada it will be to the USA (Florida Orlando) ,,,and by then we will probably need a booster shot.

Yep that is my understanding. If you test positive there's no getting on the plane. I was thinking we'd have to quarantine for 14 days but they just require a negative test so if we test negative before the 14 days are up I'd think we'd be ok to fly?Dumb question, but someone has to ask. If we’re flying home to Toronto from MCO and after I get my result from Walgreens and (God forbid) I an positive for COVID - can I assume that I in fact will not be allowed on my flight home? Does that mean I need to quarantine in the US for 14 days, or can I do another test the next day and if negative, essentially I’d be allowed to head back home on a plane?
I find it weird how anybody entering Canada (with all the testing rules) could be positive and still get on a flight.
just curious
FYI: I am double vaxed-just for the record
Yeah.....no. They don't really enforce anything down there.....If you test positive doesn’t the US make sure you isolate? Is it just up to your moral responsibility?
I believe Quebec got Covishield. Ontario and most others got the US batch, and some got the Korean versionI thought the ones that came from India were called Covishield Astra Zeneca? And the majority of people did NOT get this one, something like 237,000 only received this one?
The rule is to isolate for 10 days in the US.If you test positive doesn’t the US make sure you isolate? Is it just up to your moral responsibility?

Getting a positive test before departure is unlikely if vaccinated and taking basic precautions. If you have a 7 day vacation you would test on day 4. Original covid appears on tests about 6 days after exposure and a little less than 4 days for delta. This is why you hear of travelers testing positive once back in Canada.
I haven't done the ArriveCan stuff yet, but my understanding is that you have to upload each vaccination "receipt" to the AppGreetings! I am so glad I came on this board and read this thread. We are doing DL/US/Knott's, etc., Aug 11-22 from Calgary. We are going to forge ahead! We cannot manage this trip at any other time due to school/work obligations. I am encouraged to see others travelling to WDW from Canada. I needed to see some validation of that. Been in our Covid bubble but are now all vaccinated and I believe I've actually had Covid in Feb. 2020 before it officially became a pandemic. I am encouraged by the Walgreens/CVS free testing as I was already budgeting for 3 sets of tests (going, after arrival, coming home) at $1200 for the 3 of us. My question is how much proof are they asking for regarding vaccinations? I've got the second form that says I've got 2 of 2 but I've also got my health records online and can print off the list of immunizations there as well. Thanks for any feedback. I am from Alberta btw.
I was thinking of doing a similar switch - but definitely not enough time to properly plan at our end. The other interesting data point about LA is around flights. If you look at the Government of Canada site for flights with post-travel infections, Orlando is faring very well (as opposed to Fort Lauderdale). Let's just say that flights out of LAX are showing up regularly on that page... but then again, many more flights out of LAX than MCO at this timeWe also decided to cancel our WDW trip. The rise of cases, heat, crowds.... coupled with the fact that everything we booked could be canceled without penalty seemed to be the best decision for us.
We decided to visit Disneyland and L.A. instead. We have rebooked flights to LAX... I have 8 days to plan a trip.![]()

I am with you. I am fully vaccinated (by Canadian standards) and would be relatively comfortable travelling to locations with good case management and good availability of healthcare if something comes up. I'd also plan the length of the trip around testing requirements.Interesting! We are both fully vaxed and also made the decision to shorten our trip by a day. We will be testing on Day 2 and a half... odds of getting a positive test are next to none from the trip.
This will definitely be an improvised trip... far from any of our super planned wdw trip.
None of these decisions are easy. We were originally scheduled to travel with our two unvaccinated daughters... hopefully we are able to have a March 2022 family vacation!
Just wondering - does Lax/Disneyland area have low cases? I honestly don’t know, but what are things like compared to Orlando/DisneyWorld?We also decided to cancel our WDW trip. It has been increasing, but in general, not (yet) to the level you are generally seeing around Orlando and Florida. The US CDC has good information and links to analyze this data - just trying to stay within the posting guidelines for COVID discussions...Just wondering - does Lax/Disneyland area have low cases? For us it’s a 6 hr flight with connections (pretty sure) to Lax compared to 2.5 hr non stop flight to Orlando but maybe should look into it as well.
