Anyone pay extra for Savannah view and not see animals?

We just returned yesterday from our stay at AKL/Jambo house. We were given an upgrade to a savannah view on Zebra Trail! We were thrilled! Saw Giraffes everyday!!!!!

We just spent last week with a Savannah view room off Zebra Trail. It was an awesome location. Close to elevator to pool and Mara. And we were near the watering hole and saw tons of animals. We rented DVC points so were were on the fifth floor. I think the views might have been a little better if we were on the 2nd or 3rd floor as the trees sometimes blocked our views. But we saw lots of zebras, giraffes and "deer." My son would have loved to see the Okapis but they weren't on our Savannah. We definitely don't regret paying for the Savannah view and my husband said if we stay there again he would want to pay for it.

If you ever stay at Jambo again (or Kidani) and want to see Okapi, just head out to the Kidani pool area over by the Maji . There is a nice outdoor overlook that has great views of the Pembe savanna, and you should be able to see the Okapi . Plus you can have something to eat and drink from the Maji, while sitting at the tables that overlook the savanna. Really is a nice place to relax , and see the animals, that is not well known.

We just stayed at AKL-Jambo House. We were on the fourth floor, facing Arusha savannah, Kudu trail. We saw lots of animals (sorry - can't tell you what some of the animals were as I didn't recognize them and forgot now what they were even after looking them up on the guide) including zebra and several giraffes. Best time of day was late afternoon as they fed them close to the rooms.
