Anyone own the monorail set?

Robo

I love your monorail setup. Where did you get the splash mountain accessory?
I have never seen that anywhere.

I built it.

And, thanks to all here for their kind words about my setup!

In my opinion.. the monorail set they are selling now.. well let us just say it is not made "kid tough"... the monorail comes apart into peices .. and those little grey accordian like peices.. OY!! I have started buying my nephew the sturdier metal monorails.. they are smaller and sold in all the gift shops for like $20 or less.. and each visit it seems they have a different color available... which he likes cause he wants to collect all of them. The metal ones have wheels on the bottom and do not come apart when you sneeze near them They are also so much more portable.. and can be taken into the parks and shown to Mickey :) They are great for playtime while waiting in lines... and can be carried onto the plane... so.. in my book.. they satisfy both my need and my little guy! and my wallet is much happier too!! LOL!!

I agree....my DS (6) LOVES :love:the monorail and the WDW Railroad. We purchased the monorail in Nov. 2008 and it is just not very kids "tough" and he is very carefully with the monorail...:sad1: It has been setup on his bedroom floor since Dec. 2008, and he plays with it alot, but the monorail itself tends to come apart easily and the accordian doors...well that is another story.... The Railroad has held up MUCH better, and it is about 2+ years old, and it is played with daily:love:! I would love to find a better made monorail for DS, because he really LOVES it!

Sorry to jump Robo here but it's California Screamin'. It's located in the California Adventure Park...such a fun ride.

You didn't miss it at WDW, its just not there!

Yes, a DCA attraction, as are many of the "rides" in my set.

Most of these are no longer manufactured and have become collector's items.

Robo,
Where did you get the Splash Mountain playset? I have never seen that one before...only the small poly pocket one.
Your set is awesome! We have started our own collection through ebay but my dumbo and astro orbiter does not spin...never did even though it was advertised to work properly. We have the switch station as well and I need to get more track soon. I have not set up our train yet. We have the Tree of Life and the older version of the Epcot Sphere where the monorail runs under. Yours is so awesome!:cool1:

We got one in feb 09. It was around $40 (all toys were 35%off). This was just for the monorail and oval track.

We bought two of these in March (have twin boys) - orange and silver I believe. Was a great bargain at 35% off and we had them shipped home. Our boys love these sets and place with them every chance they get. They have a huge Thomas train table that no longer gets touched because they would rather play with the monorail.

I built the one seen in the video.
It's kind of "abstract" but it represents Splash well enough to pass.

It's very good! I bet you could sell a few on ebay!!!!

Love robo's set up. Love it!!

We bought ds the monorail in 2003 when we were there for his b-day. he was 3. We were staying at the contemporary and as you can guess, was completely fascinated by watching the monorail. At that time they had a large set up near the Cont. gift shop and ds loved watching that almost as much. So we bought it (and the CR part) and shipped it home to him.

He played with it for a little while but it's been packed away for years now. I agree with PP who said that the little grey pieces between the cars just fall apart and I seem to remember the contemporary building part just falling apart after a few plays.

IMO not good for a younger child, maybe good for an older chilid/adult who has room to set it up and just "look".

no wonder you are right about Disney info 99.99% of the time, you have your own Disney World right in your own home. That is one awesome set up!

I give you 99.99% thanks! :goodvibes
